My name is Ron Lewis, and I am one of the five survivors of the American Eagle crash [redacted]. Due to the crash, my right foot was torn halfway from my leg, and my tibia and fibula were broken, leading to a bone infection. I noticed reports of Alex Smith facing a similar infection. Having a strong support system is crucial in overcoming setbacks. I received immense support during my recovery and now wish to offer the same to Alex. I respect his privacy at this time but am available if he needs to talk. Support from others helped me, and now I want to extend the same to him. Sincerely, Ron Lewis

I'm curious about the real reason why the Washington Football Team decided not to sign Colin Kaepernick. In today's world, it's hard to understand how certain actions are perceived. The President's comments about firing players who kneel during the national anthem seem to stir controversy. I fail to see how peacefully kneeling can be viewed as disrespectful. At the Navy base where I work, I observe people continuing their activities during the anthem without issue. Taking a knee was a peaceful way for a black man to raise awareness. Throughout history, it took the activism of black individuals to fight against segregation, demand equal rights, and abolish slavery. Yet, the fight against violence towards minorities is still ongoing. It's disheartening to see Kaepernick being pushed aside for being too controversial, perhaps history will view his actions differently one day, much like Rosa Parks' arrest.

I can't believe the team would bend to politically correct sponsors. This team and its name are part of our nation's heritage. As an individual of Indian descent, I am not offended by the name Redskins. Many Americans are proud of their heritage and appreciate seeing their culture honored in a well-known American institution. I represent many others who feel the same way, even if they don't speak up. They will show their support by not backing down if the team changes its name due to pressure from a few. There are more supporters than opponents. Those who truly care about the sport and the country will step in if the team doesn't give in to political pressure. The team will benefit more by standing firm against those few who don't care about the country or the sport. Thank you, Barry Todd.

I have been a lifelong NY Giants fan since the 50s. One of my best friends from back then, who was also a Giants fan, was transferred to CD in the 70s to be president of a well-known company there. Over the years, he switched to being a Redskins fan, but we remained good friends, except during football season. Despite being rivals, we always kept in touch during football season. Sadly, he passed away a few years ago. I am reaching out to appeal to you not to give in to the pressure from those who want you to change your team's name. If you decide to change it, I want you to know that I will not watch the Giants play the Redskins every time they meet. I write to you not just for myself but in memory of my lifelong friend.

I don't have an issue, but I would like to kindly request the team owner, the new coach, and the individuals responsible for the new logo and name to consider honoring Native American history by selecting a strong logo representing Native Americans, renaming the team to NATIVE AMERICANS, and changing the fighting song to include NATIVE AMERICANS instead of REDSKINS. Please relay this message to them. I suggest not choosing SENATORS as the team name. By choosing NATIVE AMERICANS, we can pay tribute, show respect, and promote fairness and equality. It would demonstrate solidarity against racism. Please provide feedback on this suggestion. Thank you.

Amidst the ongoing discussion surrounding the Redskins and their mascot, there is a growing need for a name change to address concerns about racial insensitivity. As we explore new possibilities, it's essential to select a name that promotes positive values and inclusivity. With this in mind, several suggestions have been proposed, such as The Tomahawk Choppers, The DC Decimators, and The Peace Pipe Smokers, among others. The decision on the new name will require careful consideration to reflect a more enlightened and respectful approach. It's important to remember that progress towards a more civilized society involves embracing change and acknowledging past injustices. While some may resist these changes, it is crucial to move forward with empathy and understanding. In a year marked by unexpected events, adapting to new perspectives is essential for growth and unity.

I used to frequently contact the main office and even reached Dan Snyder's assistant. I would commend their work but always emphasized the importance of keeping the team name. Despite our support, the name change has left many fans feeling neglected. The decision was made hastily without standing up for what's right. The recent offer for season tickets after decades of waiting seems insincere, especially with the team's declining performance and dwindling fan attendance. The lack of consultation with the fanbase is disappointing. We were loyal and would have stood by the team. Unless the organization listens to its supporters and shows some backbone, our backing will waver. It would be beneficial to consider the demand for Redskins merchandise as a testament to the team's legacy and fan loyalty.
