VW credit misreported my closed and paid off account ********** to the credit bureau. The loan was paid off in March **** - I traded in the VW CC to Cadillac (GM Financial) and VW credit reported my account as having two late payments in March and April ****. The credit report stated that the account had two late payments because the account member was “impacted by a natural disaster.” Firstly, this never happened as I never had late payments. Secondly, for whoever made two late payments affected by a natural disaster, why would VW credit report an individual impacted by a hurricane? Are they reporting TSA agents who can’t pay their bills because of the government shut down? I was never even told that my account was reported. I only know because I am recently buying a house and the mortgage company ran my credit report. It has affected my credit score and raised my interest rate, which is all in error on your part. The agent Lauren at VW Credit that I spoke to yesterday morning at **:** am EST on Jan **, **** initially told me that she didn’t see that they reported me late on my account, it was paid off in March **** and I had to deal directly with the credit bureau because my account does not show that I was ever late and VW credit never reported me, which does not make sense at all. Why would the credit bureau state that VW credit reported me? I doubt they made it up. Then I was told I could not receive a letter stating my account was paid off in March **** with no late payments, because my account was closed. Lauren then spoke with someone, came back and I was told just to fax in the credit report showing VW credit reported me. There was no responsibility taken or any apology for making such an error or how it has impacted my life and the stress it has added to buying a house. No offer to follow up and call me once they remove the error from the credit bureau. Legally, VW credit needs to think twice and double check before they report someone and bare minimum communicate it to the account holder because I would have dealt with it as soon as I found out. I want to know exactly what happened on your end, I want it resolved swiftly, and I want to be followed up with. That is the bare minimum of what you should do as a business when you mess up.
