We booked a place through VRBO in Avdou Crete for *days July *rd through the *th. In the meantime, we got stuck on Santorini for an extra night due to a nation wide ferry strike in Greece. When I contacted the property manager to see if we might be able to cancel our first night, he asked us what our booking was (even though this is how I contacted him). He then told us we already checked in. And then said they would refund the whole thing. Clearly we were not expected at all and would not have had a place to stay when we got there. I was pleased however to hear we would be refunded in full. Then I was told the owner didn’t know how to refund me but the property manager would help him. Then I didn’t hear anything all weekend. Then I was told he would need my paypal account. Then he finally refunded some but not all. The property manager said it was the Home away commission and it was not fair to ask the owner to pay. Commission for what I ask? We did not stay at all! Our ferry trouble turned in to a blessing in that we were able to find a place to stay on Crete that was certain. We paid €***.** and €***.** was returned to us. I would like my remainder €***.** returned to me. I’m very upset about this whole thing. I have screen shots and proof that we paid in full back in May, and most of my WhatsApp exchanges with the property manager, although he did delete some of his messages. I hoping to get this resolved to my satisfaction before I go off with negative reviews online.
