Get my full money back. ... I rented a place in Santa Barbara for a month. When I got there the woman mentioned there may be ants (and that it was an issue everywhere in SB due to heat) and to put the trash outside to help mitigate the issue. I was barely there the first couple days and only barely cooked anything and ate one meal. I put the trash outside as suggested. I checked in on August ** and saw a few ants but nothing major. I went out to buy ant killer and noticed several places were sold out so I figured the woman was right. But on the second night, my unit was overrun with ants. They were in every room of my very small unit, from the bathroom to the kitchen to the bedroom! I actually woke in the middle of the night to take a shower. In the morning I found numerous ants all over and in my bed!! The owner was very responsive and sent her husband and the cleaning lady down to clean and spray and change the sheets and I considered giving the place another try. On the way to my son’s apartment (also in SB and not an ant in sight), in the car, I felt something crawling on me and realized there were two on my leg! This is after I’d showered again! So I called the owner and told her I couldn’t stay because I was worried the place was so infested with ants they were in my luggage or clothing. I told her I would pay for the days I was there. She tried to convince me the ant problem was everywhere in SB and that subsequent to the cleaning, she had seen no ants. I told her there had been no ants when I first moved in on the **th and barely used the place, so I had no confidence that they wouldn’t come back even if cleaned. I told her I’d consider staying again in the future (maybe in the winter) but I couldn’t stay now. She said she’d figure out a plan to refund me and maybe do a credit. I went there on the **th and packed up my things. Both my son and I saw *-* ants on the wall behind the table in the bedroom and pointed them out to the owner, who had said repeatedly she didn’t see any. In the meantime I booked another VRBO in SB under my other account at *****@***.com) and have been here since the **th without an ant in sight even though I’ve been using the kitchen a lot more. I had to sleep on my son’s sofa the night of the **th because all the hotels were booked and my current VRBO was not available until the **th. The owner of the first place told me a few days ago she’d refunded half my money and would keep the other half as a credit toward future stays if she cannot rent it to someone else. I have not seen any credit on my credit card and I’m reconsidering the idea of her keeping a credit - so far, I’m not happy with the experience and I am certain it is not OK to knowingly rent a place infested with ants. I shouldn’t have to pay for any of it, much less have to deal with finding a way to use a two-week credit! Anyway, as a longtime good customer, I would like VRBO to help me handle this and get my money refunded since it doesn’t help your reputation either to have property owners who do this. Thanks.
The owner wants to issue me *** credit which she said she did last week but apparently hasn't even initiated yet.

I've been a customer for over a decade and have rented through VRBO all over the world. I've never had a problem.
