My flight was cancelled and United was going to get me home ** hours later than my original flight which would have caused me to miss work and family responsibilities. I purchased my own flight home on another airline, after waiting to see if I could get standby on the first option the customer service agent gave me. She was the one who suggested booking another flight on Southwest and explaining the situation to you after the fact. I have only been refunded for my cancelled flight, but I believe I should be refunded for the additional flight, as well as my meal at the airport as the delay was so long even before my first option. I am a credit card holder and have flown many international flights via united.
