The issue in GetHuman-bettymle's own words
On February *, ****, we purchased two (*) airlines tickets on United Flight ****** Seats **C and **D, leaving Mobile, Alabama on March **, ****, at **:** PM, to Houston TX. The morning of our flight, I checked the flight status and discovered that all flights in this area had been cancelled for that day. I also checked the United Airlines flights at airports in Biloxi, MS., and Pensacola, FL. After staying on the phone with a United Airlines Agent for about an hour, I was given two reservations on an American Airlines flight out of New Orleans, LA. After driving *** miles from Mobile, AL to New Orleans, LA, we were informed that there were no available seats on the flight, although they checked our luggage, that was given to us by a United Airlines Agent. After explaining to the American Airlines Agent that must get to Houston for our granddaughter's wedding by the next day, March **, ****, he was able to find two seats back on another United Airlines Flight leaving out of New Orleans* however, our baggage had been placed on the American Airlines Flight **** to Dallas, TX . Needless to say, our baggage was lost, since it went to Dallas, while we went to Houston, TX. This experience was a pure nightmare. We believe that we should be compensated for this flight, since we had to drive (round trip) *** miles and had to pay for long-term parking at the New Orleans Airport for several days, since we had to get a flight from New Orleans instead of being able to fly out of Mobile, AL. to Houston, TX. On the day of my granddaughter's wedding, we had to return to the Airport to look for our baggage, since we had no clothing. Firstly, we were never contacted in advance that all flights from this area had been cancelled, although United Airlines had our cell phone number (***) ***-****.
