I got a basic economy ticket round trip Chicago*Geneva with United Airlines, Since there is no direct flight on that route, United booked me Chicago, O'Hare* Washington Dulles* NYC Newark, and from there a direct flight to Geneva. Yes, it's a long flight!*For domestic flights, I am only allowed to have one personal item and no carry-on, otherwise, I need to pay for it, which I want to avoid. I am actually bringing a carry-on (no other luggage) However, for international flights, I am allowed to have a personal item plus a carry-on free of charge. I am trying to find out if I will be charged for my carry-on for the domestic stretches OR because I will be in transit I will be allowed to have my carry on with me at no charge. I can't find the answer on their website.
