DO NOT FLY UNITED!!**My fianc* and I have had the travel experience from **** and United has been the most unaccomidating, disorganized and flat out untruthful group of people I have ever encountered.**My fianc* and I were flying from Washington DC (DCA) to demoins Iowa on September *, ****. Total flight time of * hours. We got to DCA September *, at *:** am for our early morning flight. Weather was clear and we boarded our plane. The plane pulled out onto the tarmac. We stayed on the tarmac for the next two hours. One engine would not start so they kept trying to rev it. After a long while they called maintenance to come out to our plane and fix. Of note, there was no air conditioning on the plane due to the engine not working. They left us on the plane anyway. It was ** degrees out that day. After maintenance finally arrived we got an announcement that another problem was located and we would have to go back to the gate where we were deplaned. We had now missed our connection in Chicago and after standing in line for over an hour we got our connection fixed. We were then put back on the plane. Plane pulled out to the tarmac and we stopped on tarmac again. Announcement was made that we now had to wait for a GPS route. We waited for the route on the tarmac for an hour. We now missed our next connection again. When we finally made it to our connecting airport in Chicago we had * hours before our connection. We asked Multiple times to be rerouted or put on different airlines but we were denied. When it came time for our flight to leave Chicago for Des Moines weather hit and cause multiple delays until ** pm where we were told no flight we’re getting out for the night and they rebooked us for the following morning. From what I could see online this flight did get out that night and we were lied to. Mind you by missing that flight I missed my best friends rehearsal dinner and night before her wedding. The following day we did get to Iowa two hours before she got married. **Now fast forward to our return trip home. Our flight leaving Des Moines back to DC was scheduled for *:** in the afternoon. We arrived to the airport and storms had hit Chicago. Delays with weather are understandable but what United did to us is not. After a while of delays we were told our flight was canceled and they book us on another flight. Eventually We were told that second flight was canceled. Put on a third flight and we were told all flights to Chicago was canceled. We were booked on a flight leaving today (the following day) but ending at an airport an hour away from our original destination. We were told there were no other options. So I did my research again. The original *:** flight we were told was canceled that our seats were removed from was not canceled it was delayed until * am the following day (today). When I saw that I called united and though they admitted the mistake they refused to give our seats back as that flight was now full. They refused to reroute us and said our only option was the * pm flight today landing an hour away from our original destination. So I did more research and found out there was an * pm flight that went to Chicago last night with empty seats. We were still at the airport trying to get out at that time. At that time we were told there were no flights going to Chicago. Waking up today I have checked the weather in Iowa. At the time of our only option flight today of * pm Des Moines there is an **% chance of thunderstorms lasting through the entire night so I called united again. When I called united I was told there was a * am flight going to Chicago with two empty seats. We could not get to the airport in time for that. So all of a sudden there was ANOTHER flight going to Chicago with empty seats and we were never informed or offered that and we were told there were no flights going yet here is a third flight I found with empty seats. Because of the high likelyhood of our one chance flight being delayed and or canceled today and missing our connection in Chicago again, we are having to rent a car and drive from de Moines to Chicago so we can get to our connection to go home. Mind you this flight we are driving to in chilcago will land and hour away from where we booked and paid to land. **We have incurred costs for hotels stays, baggage checked on planes we never got on, Uber rides, food and lost wages as both my fianc* and I are not salaried nor do we get vacation or sick pay. **Every point I have made here I have documentation for from pictures to screen shots to videos. I also made united agents document the atrocious errors made at every step in my current trip online record. I have never experience more incompetence or non willingness to make right on all these mistakes made. No accommodations were given to us and all united had said so far is I apologize for your inconvenience but there is nothing we can do.**United ... you have a lot of explaining and a lot of money reimbursement owed to us. I have filled out the complaint forms online, as I was also told my only option for reimbursement for all these costs was the online form and have additionally been been informed it will be **-** days before I receive a response.**What do you have to say United?**So unless you want to be flat out lied to, mishandled and out a ton of money while being utter inconvenienced DO NOT FLY UNITED
