I booked a compassionate flight to go to my brothers funeral after his sudden death yesterday. I was booked on United ****, ORF*IAD for ****** (today) reservation * DTZKJD connecting to arrive in Knoxville in time for the funeral.* I paid for seat assignment upgrades to get me closer to exiting the plane for tight connections. I am also a MileagePlus Member Richard Spano*BW******.*Telephone Number ***-***-*****DOB ***********Flight **** to IAD was then cancelled late the night before, and I received emails telling me I had been re-booked on other flights for ****** which was not acceptable. I followed the options in the email to rebook flights to get me to the funeral on Wednesday. TWICE again those flights were cancelled and I was rebooked.*I arrived at the airport to discover I had been REBOOKED AGAIN!! This time on flight ****, which was then delayed and would cause me to miss my connection to TYS* Knoxville. Meanwhile I incurred more charges to my credit card for seats I had to buy as I was carrying a carry on, (no checked baggage). A Ms Lynn Harrington , United Agent, went out of her way to try to rebook me to get me to Knoxville in time, through ORD*O'Hare FLt***** with a ** minute connection to UA**** to TYS. The inbound was delayed and the connection time shrunk to ** minutes and then when the aircraft arrived, no one could find Operations to offload a wheelchair passenger and the boarding was delayed even further. Ms Harrington showed up and after spending some computer and telephone time asked me if I could get to PHF*Newport News, approx **-** minutes away to catch an AA Flt (GALILEO RES *AIVJYJ) to CLT*Charlotte and on to TYS in time for me to at least be with my family after the funeral. I called my wife to pick me up at ORF to bring me to PHF, which she did, only to get stuck in the traffic resulting from the Monitor Merrimac Bridge Tunnel route to Newport News being totally blocked (as can be verified by VADOT). So I missed the AA Flight. I went online and discovered that it ran late and I most likely would have missed the CLT Connection as well.*I am requesting a full refund on the ticket and the seat upgrades to my American Express Card ending in ***** and Visa ****.*And a grateful Thank You to Ms Lynn Harrington in Norfolk for going above and beyond the call to try to resolve this unfortunate situation.

I didn’t and they didn’t and I was stranded in Chicago and missed my brothers funeral when I could have driven there. NEVER UNITED AIRLINES. PERIOD
