My wife and I had a flight delayed from Las Vegas to Chicago by more than * hours (it was a connecting flight). This caused us to miss our next flight (from Chicago to Paducah) so we had to catch the next available one which ended up being about ** hours later than the originally scheduled flight. We were told by a United Airlines employee that we would be put in a hotel when we got to our location because we would be getting there very late and would have to wait a long time before our next flight. **We agreed. When we arrived at Chicago, they declined to give us the hotel that we were promised. We have been stuck waiting in the airport and did not get an opportunity to sleep. We were also expecting to pick up our checked baggage and go to the hotel, which is now not available to us. We have medication in those bags and other items we need that we can’t get now. **We spoke to the customer service center here when the opened * hours after we arrived. They were very indifferent regarding the whole situation and even suggested that we should have known a hotel wouldn’t have been available (I am not able to explain their reasoning). They told us to fill out an online customer service form. We did and they offered $** in travel vouchers. We will never fly United again so this is not acceptable.**We are seeking compensation of a minimum of how much we paid for the tickets. This whole ordeal has caused a financial burden to us in having to buy food*hygienic items*medication*clothes at the airport as well as lost wages from missing work. **We were very understanding when the original flight got delayed, but they did not follow through with what they promised us and have been difficult to deal with, especially the people at Chicago.
