Yesterday, Friday, July **, ****, I was involved in a collision in downtown Eureka, CA.* I was parked near a business on a corner on a two-way street. As I was about to pull out, I checked my rearview mirror, then side mirror, then gave a quick glance over my left shoulder. I then slowly pulled out.*I was immediately struck by a car coming around the corner from a one-way street. Both cars sustained body damage.*I followed the driver to a nearby parking lot where we proceeded to have a fairly congenial conversation.*There were no injuries and both cars could be driven away, so we just exchanged information including: vehicle information, driver's licenses, insurance coverage, names, and phone numbers. Both of us also took photos.*He was adamant that it was not his fault and I said that I didn't think it was my fault either. He told me that I should call the city and tell them that parking shouldn't be allowed on that corner. *I think that since he knew that it was a difficult corner, he should have taken it slower coming around the corner and been alert about a car pulling out of that parking space. I took all precautionary steps. He did not.*I couldn't say how fast he was driving, perhaps a little faster than was prudent on that corner.*I am not sure how to proceed. *The one thing I do know is that I don't want his insurance company (AAA) to try to get my insurance (USAA, of course) to pay for the repair work on his car.*Also, what am I supposed to do about the repair work on my car? *Thanks for your help.
GetHuman-sndrwlsh did not yet indicate what USAA should do to make this right.
