I’ve had an ongoing problem with my local post office for several months. I live in Belton, SC *****. I had a package that was misplaced*stolen off my porch several months ago. My neighbor across the street heard the carrier arrive, & went out to get his mail. I wasn’t at home. My neighbor said the carrier did not leave a package or go to my mailbox. And I did not have regular mail in my box that day. I spoke with the person in charge at my post office (Cynthia Lofton) & she was to do an investigation. I never felt it was followed up on to my satisfaction, so I just took it as a loss. The package was worth $***.**. So I requested that NO packages be left, but to leave me a notice, which allows you to specify a re-delivery date. I have always requested my packages be re- delivered on Saturdays, when I’m at home. I work out of town Monday-Friday, *-*:**, so I don’t have the option to get to the post office before they close. It’s a simple request, but they continue to disregard it. I will get notices in my box, fill them out with redeliver date for Saturday. During Christmas when I had several packages expected, the service was horrible! I would get a notice, fill it out, leave it in the box for the carrier. I would get home & check my mail, & the notice would still be there, but I would have new mail left in the box. The carrier wouldn’t pick up the notice. So I started TAPING my redeliver notice in the box. Once, I had to leave THREE redeliver notices at one time, because the carrier did not pick them up. Yet, they had to move them to deliver my other mail. Just left them in the box! This has happened numerous times! So if they don’t pick up the notices I leave, sometimes it’s a full week- the NEXT Saturday before I get my delivery! Once I had to leave work & drive ** minutes one way to go to the post office to pick up a birthday gift I had ordered for my granddaughter so I would have it in time! All because the carrier didn’t pick up the notice to redeliver it on Saturday! I have complained numerous times on the phone & in person, & can’t get this resolved. The postmaster I spoke with on more than one occasion, left for a while. So I spoke with a man who was in charge at the time, & he assured me he would speak with the carriers about picking up the notices & acknowledged it was their fault. Now this man is gone & Cynthia Lofton is back & I have spoken with her again. I have called numerous times & spoken with other employees as well. Now everyone I speak to is rude to me when I call, like its MY fault. I have gotten the runaround & several excuses each time. “The carrier didn’t know”, “You have a new carrier”, “Yours is an auxiliary route” (whatever that means!). It seems I have a new carrier constantly or some other excuse. When I requested my packages not be left, Cynthia Lofton had me PUT MY REQUEST IN WRITING, which I did. So what is the problem?!!! By now everyone there knows me, & are rude & hateful to me. I have even been told “We all know about delivering your packages”. Yet they can’t seem to get it done. I have been told on more than one occasion, “Maybe you should just get a post on box”! Really?!! Because my small town post office is too lazy to get a notice out of my mailbox or honor a SIMPLE request. It’s not that hard! When I’ve had * or * notices left in my box & other mail left for me, I can’t help but think it’s being done spitefully. On ONE occasion, I was expecting a package but had not received a notice yet. I unexpectedly had to go out of town on a Saturday. This is rare. I’m always home on Saturday unless an emergency happens, which did. I called the post office at * AM & requested if the package HAD come in, to please hold it. I told them I had not received a notice, but the delivery is so unpredictable, I was trying to play it safe. Chances were that it wasn’t even here yet, but like I said, I was just giving a “heads up”. This is what I was told, “No wonder they can’t keep up with your mail, you keep changing your mind!” I WAS FURIOUS! This was the FIRST and ONLY time I had done that! The standing order is DO NOT LEAVE PACKAGES DURING THE WEEK, PICK UP MY REDELIVERY NOTICES, AND DELIVER ON SATURDAY!! IT’S IN WRITING! I got a notice on Wednesday, Jan. **rd that I had a package. So I filled it out to redeliver on Saturday, Jan. **th, today. My mail got left in my box, NO PACKAGE. So I called the post office and was told, “It’s here if you want to come get it, we’ll be open for a little while this morning.” I HAVE THE FLU! So I guess with a whole lot of luck, I’ll get it NEXT SATURDAY! I was also told again that maybe I should get a P.O. Box! Why am I having to go through this ridiculousness?!!!!! Please help me with this or refer me to someone who can! It’s gotten so old and there’s NO EXCUSE FOR IT! Thank you very much!
