Help with my Turbo Tax issue
The issue in GetHuman2770368's own words
I e-filed my **** Federal Return on April *, **** and set up tax owed via my EFTPS account for debit from my checking account on April **, ****. I had a double debit of the Fed Tax owed for **** from my checking account. EFTPS customer rep investigated and found that the double payment to the IRS happened due to an Electronic Funds Transfer also on April **, **** that originated from Turbo Tax when I e-filed Fed Tax return on *-*-****. The strange thing is that the date ******** was showing up in the EFTPS data base as my e-file date. I want to know how this happened and how to prevent in the future. I had no indication from Turbo Tax that my tax owed would be deducted from my checking account via the ACH ECC Web! This brought my checking account balance to a critical level with the double payment. My credit union reversed the EFTPS payment and redeposited into my checking account and the IRS shows the double payment as of *********. I did not authorize this with Turbo Tax and need an answer as to how this occurred.
GetHuman2770368 did not yet indicate what Turbo Tax should do to make this right.
I have an issue with Turbo Tax too
How GetHuman2770368 fixed the problem
Open your most recent tax return in Turbo Tax, click on "View" then "Forms".**Scroll down to part V of your Federal Information Worksheet to view your financial institution direct deposit*debit information.**If you intend to pay your taxes by check or plan on setting up an alternative electronic method and don't want the IRS to automatically debit your account for money owed, UNCHECK the "YES" box and check the "NO" box for the direct debit line.**If you NEVER intend to use direct deposit or debit, ensure that there is NO banking information in the section of the form.**Click "File", "Save" to save your return then click "View" and "Step by step" to return to the normal view.**Keep in mind: THESE ELECTIONS ARE IMPORTED INTO EACH YEARS TAX FORMS FROM WITH PREVIOUS YEAR SO IF YOU DO IT ONE TIME, IT WILL COME BACK TO HAUNT YOU THE NEXT YEAR. You can edit this information on a year-by-year basis, adding and deleting it as you wish.**If you're faced with a double debit situation, contact your bank or credit union first to reverse one of the transactions. This is the quickest way to get the money back into your account.
