I attempted to check in to hyde park hotel before an event an no one was in the office at *:** on a Saturday. When we came back around ***, he let us in, although no staff was there and gave us a room number and a code to get in. The room was occupied, there was luggage, drinks and the bed had been slept in. After ** minutes he arrived to let us in to another room but we were uncomfortable and decided to leave. He then proceeded to complain out loud that he would not be able to sell the room, although he also stated that this whole mixup was due ro being oversold. He was rude, hung up on me, told other customers that we ruined his customer base and was overall unprofessional and unapologetic. We cannot stay in a place that gives out room numbers and door key codes without discretion as we travel with cash, passports and other private information. He advised that we cancel but I do not want to incur the costs of a cancellation penalty as we attempted to check in appropriately but felt unsafe.
