My Thunderbird has been working flawlessly for years without any password changes. However, for the past several months, I have been encountering an issue when trying to sign in. The error message reads: "Sending of password for user [redacted] did not succeed. Mail server inbound.att.net responded: Server error - Please try again later." Despite attempting to retry later and even starting Thunderbird in safe mode, the problem persists. I am unable to locate the option to change my password within the settings. If the password is indeed the issue, I'm at a loss for how to resolve it. It's frustrating to have such a reliable program suddenly become nonfunctional after all this time. I would greatly appreciate any specific, step-by-step guidance to address this matter. Thank you for your help.

Recently, Thunderbird started re-downloading emails from the provider's server unexpectedly. Deleting the popstate.dat file was recommended to fix a possible corruption issue. Unfortunately, this did not resolve the problem, and now no new emails are downloading, although outgoing emails are working fine. Despite trying different self-help suggestions, the current issue persists - upon Thunderbird startup or when trying to "Get messages," I receive a "connection to server mail-server.cfl.rr.com timed out" error. The POP3 and SMTP settings are correct and unchanged from when everything was functioning properly. I have verified that passwords are updated and match across accounts. Email access is not a problem when logging directly into the provider's website. I am unsure of what steps to take next to rectify this situation.

Since the recent Microsoft update on December 3, [redacted], I have been unable to load my emails into Thunderbird. The only apparent change is the update. The error message I receive is related to the security certificate of the email site. Even after attempting to approve the security certificate override, my emails still do not load as expected. I would appreciate any assistance with resolving this issue. Thank you.

I am an AT&T internet customer. Recently, they asked me to update my username from my name to my email address. Since making this change, I am unable to access Thunderbird. I keep getting an error stating "sending of password did not succeed." The message mentions a server error from inbound.att.net. I enjoy using Thunderbird for emails and would appreciate any assistance in resolving this issue.

I recently completed a clean install on my desktop computer. I have been a long-time user of Thunderbird for my internet services, which were previously with Knology, now changed to WOW for over 20 years. Recently, WOW made changes to their server details which caused Thunderbird to require more detailed information for the connection. Despite receiving the latest server information from WOW and inputting it into Thunderbird multiple times, it has not been accepted. I have experience building over 10 computers and installing Thunderbird without any issues like this before. Thunderbird is now requesting a password, and I have tried both my old Knology password and my current WOW password without success. I am seeking assistance to resolve this Thunderbird connection issue before considering switching to Google. Apart from this Thunderbird issue, my computer is functioning well with internet access to websites and a VOIP phone service.

I recently performed a clean install on my desktop computer and have been a long-time user of Thunderbird as my email client. I've been with my internet service provider Knology, which transitioned to WOW some years back. Recently, WOW changed the identity of their server, leading Thunderbird to now request more detailed information to connect to the internet provider. Despite obtaining the latest server details from WOW and entering them into Thunderbird, I have tried this process multiple times to no avail. Thunderbird is now prompting me for a password, and attempts with both my previous Knology and current WOW passwords have been unsuccessful. This issue is unique to me, as I have installed Thunderbird on many computers without encountering such difficulties. I am seeking assistance in establishing a successful connection with Thunderbird to avoid resorting to Google's services. My computer functions well otherwise, allowing web browsing and VOIP phone usage without any issues. I had a successful Thunderbird connection just yesterday with minimal effort, hence the frustration over the sudden complications.

After updating Thunderbird to version 78.7.1, I'm facing difficulty accessing my ISP's server. Despite inputting all settings during setup and confirming the information with my ISP, I receive an error message stating, "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username, or password." I've verified my email address and password with my ISP and can access webmail on their site but not through the set-up server in Thunderbird. Any assistance with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

After updating Thunderbird to version **.*.*, I am experiencing difficulty accessing my ISP's server. Even after entering all my information during the setup process, it recognizes all my settings on the given server. However, when I click DONE to connect to the server, an error message pops up saying, "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password." I have already contacted my ISP, and they verified that the information inputted in the 'Set Up Your Existing Email Address' section is accurate, including my email address and password. While I can access my webmail through my ISP's website, I am unable to log in to the server I attempted to set up in Thunderbird. It would be helpful if Thunderbird adjusted their support information to align with the setup process outlined on their support webpage.

I have been using Thunderbird to manage my emails, with no issues until last week. It's important to note that my emails are through AOL.com, now owned by Verizon. Last week, I started receiving a password error that persisted even after changing my password on AOL and updating it in Thunderbird. I compared the settings of the problematic email account, [redacted], with another working account, [redacted], and found them to be identical.

When I click on the Mozilla and Firefox desktop icons, the "Set Up Your Existing Email Address" page appears. I input my name as Stanley J. Solomon, my email address as [redacted], and my password from my Amazon account. After clicking Continue, an Account Setup page appears displaying my details, including the configuration found in the Mozilla ISP database. The page shows the IMAP option selected with the incoming and outgoing server settings. Despite Thunderbird appearing to accept the settings, upon clicking Done, a yellow bar indicates the configuration could not be verified. I tried selecting different protocols like POP3 and Exchange/Office [redacted], but the issue persisted without connecting to my Microsoft account. Thunderbird's server selection seems to be the root of the problem. I previously used Outlook Express with a complex filing system and wonder if the Fil... program can replicate it effectively.

I suspect that an employee accessed my laptop through TeamViewer, altered the date and time settings to December 16, [redacted], sent an email from my account, deleted it from Sent, then corrected the date/time and logged out. Despite this, there are four email draft copies, one minute apart, in my Drafts Folder. I find this peculiar. Since yesterday, my friend from Atlanta, GA has been facing issues sending emails to me. We have had daily communication for two years, but now he gets an error message stating "no MX record found for domain = charter.net." Strangely, I can send him emails, he can reply, and within minutes of his reply, he gets the error. I have been receiving emails from other sources worldwide without any problems. I contacted Spectrum, my service provider, and they confirmed no issues with my account or any emails being blocked. Can you please look into this matter and assist in resolving it? Thank you for your help!

A few days ago, when I started my Windows 7 computer, a message popped up saying Thunderbird was installing an update. After that, when I clicked the Thunderbird icon, a window appeared saying, "PROBLEM WITH SHORTCUT: The item Thunderbird.exe that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved." I've tried everything but can't fix it. I need to access urgent emails with important information. How can I restore my Thunderbird to its previous state before this issue? I'm worried about losing personal data. Please guide me through this process to reopen my Thunderbird program. Thanks for your help. Jackie

I am experiencing significant issues with sending and receiving emails. I have contacted Ionos, my domain provider, and after a thorough check on their end, they have found no problems with their platform. They recommended contacting Thunderbird with the following information. Since it has been many years since I originally set up Thunderbird, I cannot recall the username or password. I am experiencing difficulty sending emails from my Apple devices. While I can receive emails on all my Apple products and send and receive on my PC devices, I encounter an error when attempting to send emails from my iPhone and iPad. The error message states, “Cannot Verify Server Identity. The identity of mail.entrustedteacher.com cannot be verified,” with details showing union.tchmachmachines.com and a certificate issued by cPanel, Inc. which is not trusted. The certificate is set to expire on 10/22/[redacted]. I tried to seek assistance through your support, but was discouraged by the $51 charge to speak with a representative via Paypal. I am disappointed by the lack of free options for support. Having relied on Thunderbird for years, I am considering alternative options if resolving this issue is inconvenient. It is my hope to connect with a support representative promptly to resolve my email sending problem on Apple devices.

Hello, I would greatly appreciate it if you could reach out to me before I consider forwarding this message to hundreds of my contacts on Facebook. I rely on Mozilla Thunderbird as my email client, and the junk mail filter has always functioned well for me. I manage three different email accounts on my Windows 7 computer screen using Mozilla Thunderbird. Recently, I've been bombarded with junk mail selling guns and self-defense items whenever I open my AOL account. Unfortunately, AOL seems to have altered something in their system, preventing my Thunderbird junk filter from working on this account unless I subscribe to their $10 monthly "Filter" protection service. It feels like my Thunderbird has been taken over by AOL. Could you assist me with this matter? Thank you. - Jack H., [redacted] Buck Hollow Dr., Crosby TX [redacted].

After dealing with a persistent popup, I decided to update Thunderbird. After the update, I encountered issues posting on Newsgroups (Usenet) and emails to @hotmail addresses were bouncing back, taking a whole week to return. I wonder if the update is the cause of these problems. I’m using Windows 10 and Thunderbird [redacted].4.1. I’ve tried rebooting my computer, modem, and router. I am able to send emails through my ISP webpage, but the problem persists, especially with @hotmail addresses. Occasionally, I can send emails to myself, but sometimes I can't. Once again, sending emails through my ISP's website is not an issue. I appreciate any assistance you can offer. Thanks, M. Error Message: An error occurred while sending email. The mail server responded: [R8] Authentication Failed, Must log in. Please check the message recipient "[redacted]" and try again.

I am having trouble with the password for my mail.gmx.net account. It keeps saying the password is incorrect even when I try to set a new one. This issue started after Thunderbird crashed, and I had to reinstall it. Now, when I send a test email, it also prompts for a password. I used to use it without a password before. How can I disable this or find another solution? I appreciate your assistance. Thank you, Gottfried. P.S. I'm unsure if I can receive emails, so please contact me at 0[redacted]-[redacted] if needed.

I am using the latest version of Thunderbird. I can send and receive emails from everyone except one person. While she receives my emails, I do not receive anything from her. There are no bounce-back messages for her emails. I have tried various solutions found online but nothing has resolved the issue. I have verified my email client, server, and Thunderbird settings, but the problem persists. I need assistance with this matter.
