The issue in GetHuman1035547's own words
If female staff do not, and understandably so, want to be refered to as "Weather Girls", or if any *all staff members, truly dislike "Weather Geeks", then perhaps (though I live in Kansas) Hawaii might also prefer being refered to as a STATE, instead of just a tourist destination. No question, but that the largest industry is tourism, and for all obvious*traditional reasons. But in Kansas, we use N, S, E, W, South Central, North East, (etc.) followed by county designation when referencing geographic location. It would seem to me that "The Big Island", the little island, the greenest island, the private island of Lana'i, and so forth, while all true, may also be somewhat trite and simplistic. A suggestion, especially in response to serious issues like a hurricane, would be to afford Hawaii the same dignity, respect, and deference that you would for any of the other ** states,- - STATES, mind you, by refering to geographic locations by county designations, instead of older tired and cliche references. Give it a try * it just might improve your perspective, that of your viewers !! ThankYou for listening, *Harris C McGuire, Wichita, KS
