The issue in GetHuman-chisouth's own words
Federal return was rejected twice due to alleged mismatched AGI. AGI has been confirmed with both a paper copy of last year's return as well as with a transcript from the IRS. Since I have done other returns for family for years, including this year, without any issue, the only thing that sticks out is that this is the only case in which the previous year return was filed on paper. So that means there is no PIN. Don't know if that's what the problem is, but it's the only thing I can come up with that is different. I'm an IT person who has used software for taxes for many years and I don't see any other issues. TaxAct software will not allow me to refile without altering the AGI or PIN. AGI is correct and PIN does not exist. Error code is IND-***-**. I sent an email to TaxAct over a week ago but received a canned response about the state return, which is not applicable and makes it appear that nobody read my original description of the problem. I send a two follow-ups that have been ignored. I want either a resolution or a refund.
