In December, I tried to use my target redcard when shopping for Christmas. It was declined at the register and I didn’t understand why. I immediately called the number on the back of my card and the guy I talked to said that I owed money on my account and that when I paid it, my red-card would be reactivated in *-* days. I had no idea that I had an outstanding balance. We move to a new house in May and had our mail forwarded to our new house. We assumed we didn’t owe anything because we never received a statement. The guy said that he didn’t have my current address so he changed our address in the system and I paid the amount over the phone with a credit card. I never received a statement for January at my new address so I assumed everything was caught up. I tried to use my target card again on January ** and it was declined again. I immediately called to figure out the issue. This associate gave me a completely different story. I was told that my address was not correct and target was getting our statements returned to them. He also said I had several months of late fees because I hadn’t paid in several*months. I explained to him that I just made a payment over the phone in December and he kept insisting that I still owed more money. He also said that my account had been closed because of of the past due charges. The associate I talked with in December didn’t mention anything that st all. I was on the phone with him for at least ** minutes, then I was put on hold for at least ** more minutes. I waited patiently so we could figure this mess out, then the line went dead??? *I was NOT happy at all. I have been a target customer and card holder for ** years and this has never happened!!**I went straight home, got on the target app and went to manage my red card and registered for an account. I looked up my total amount due and paid it with a check. I was so mad at this point, I just wanted it paid off so it wouldn’t continue to ruin my credit rating. I cut up my target card and I haven’t even gone shopping there since then. I said I wouldn’t go back. *Then Today, I received a statement from Target and it states that I have overpaid by $***.**. What the heck?? All of this embarrassment with cashiers saying my card has been declined, associates telling me different information, no-one reaching out to me to address the matter, etc... *I would spend my $***,**, but I cut up my credit card.
