I went to use my **% off coupon from Black Friday this evening at Target in Rock Hill, SC. At the register after ringing my items I had a Pharmacy Rewards (CVS Pharmacy inside Target $* coupon) which the associate rung. I then tried to have my **% bar code scanned - wouldn't go through. No idea on associate's part or mine - as to why not. As the young man had been told to close and go on break after the customer behind me and given the fact that I had an online order pick up to do, I told him I'd resolve it at customer service. I went to customer service and patiently waited and when I explained to that associate what I'd been looking to do (and thinking we could do an adjustment) she looked at my receipt and told me I couldn't use the **% because I'd already used a "category coupon". I told her all I had was my Pharmacy Rewards and asked what a category coupon one. She said "a coupon that says category coupon on it". I asked if a Pharmacy Rewards is a category coupon and she said she didn't know and pointed out on my emailed bar code that it said I couldn't use * category coupons. I asked her how I was supposed to know what one was if all she could me was that they say "category coupon" as I'd given my Pharmacy Rewards in at the register. I told her if I'd been aware - if was anything told to me that I'd need to choose coupons, I'd have used the **% - it provided more than double the savings. Her reply was simply "sorry". There was no offer to adjust - just that's how it is... I picked up my online order and frankly, if I'd been thinking straight I'd have left it...Let's face it, I placed an online order yesterday - I could have used the $* Pharmacy Rewards then and my **% today and now, instead, I'm out of luck. I don't happen to need to make another Target run so... my savings go out the window?? I am very disappointed that I couldn't have been told upfront that I could only use a coupon so I could have made a choice - now I don't even have the $* rewards- it's applied to a transaction where I could have saved more and using **% off and my Pharmacy Rewards didn't expire until ***** - after the **% code so maybe I'd have had opportunity to use it. I find the lack of transparency around the coupon policy appalling - I went through the FAQ's on the app and even there they don't state what a "category coupon" is - if all of the Pharmacy Rewards are... say so!!!! I am further furious that at customer service I was not offered an adjustment between the $* and **% off and my $* returned. It was like "sorry... next person". Honestly, I can go to WalMart and pay less for the same bad experience and need to consider this - we were part of the breech and stuck with Target, we did not close our account, we use the pharmacy and do spend a significant amount of money with Target so... why be so stingy and robotic? Trust me... I should have saved about $** and instead saves $*. I need that more than Target does. My receipt is REC**-****-****-****-* VCD****-***-*** Perhaps pulling my prescriptions and shopping out of Target will help this company learn to me a little more customer friendly. That's my next step if I don't get a satisfactory response.
