Recently visited Target in Davis, CA (address **** *nd St) and had the most terrible experience I’ve ever had at any target I’ve been to. This past weekend, A friend and I recently purchased a Fitbit charge * for another friends birthday. With no intention of returning the item, the receipt was thrown away. Due to some unforeseen events, the Fitbit was not gifted and we are now stuck with a $** device due to the terrible customer service by your guest service associate, Britney. During the visit we were not only accused of putting a new sticker on the packaging, but we were treated like liars. The Fitbit was in fact bought WITH CASH because I do not have a bank account set up due to the fact that I just moved out here. Of course with an associate with Britneys attitude, that made matters incredibly worse. Britney did NOT even try to return the item, she was persistent in not giving us a return from the get go. First she told us the item was “clearanced out”, how is that when I just bought here a week ago? I ended up finding the same exact item in store and that’s when things got worse. She kept saying the sticker on the product was different than the one found in store but that it was in fact the SAME product. Another associate randomly came by and asked if it was damaged even after we already said it was a gift and it has never been open. She proceeded to OPEN my new box. Now I am stuck with an OPENED product because your associates didn’t believe us when we said it wasn’t opened. A third associate shouts at us “that’s why you keep your receipts”, which I found incredibly unnecessary, it’s not anybody’s business if I lose, keep, or toss my receipt. Britney went as far as ripping the sticker off the product to see if there was something under it. I felt discriminated against, Britney had a TERRIBLE attitude from the time our interaction started to the time it finished. Britney then called a manager Zach who replied to “take care of the customer” where she replied she didn’t “feel comfortable returning without a receipt”. We then said that Target does do no receipt returns and she said “we have the right to deny returns”. But why? This was a gift, we do not need it anymore, your co-worker OPENER my UNOPENED box, YOU peeled the sticker off the bottom of my box & aren’t going to give me my $** back? How does any of that make sense? I will definitely NOT be coming back to this location, and I will let others know about this experience as well. It is incredibly unfortunate because now I have to drive ** minutes out of town to get to a Target because the associates at the Davis location are terrible. I do not even feel comfortable going back to the Davis location based on how I was treated throughout this transaction. My hard earned money has to go to waste because of terrible associates like Britney, and that I cannot accept.
