The issue in GetHuman-beckykwo's own words
On **** I purchased * Schwinn Trailways bicycles, * men's and * women's from the Niskayuna NY Target. When I got them home I noticed that there were some assembly issues with both Bicycles. The Men's Bike had the brakes adjusted poorly so they were always engaged on the wheel but this was easily fixed and the gears shift poorly in the larger derailleurs (*, * & *)*The women's Bike had a few other issues: There was a cut in the handle bar grip, Scratched on the frame, the same issue with the brakes as the other bike had, the gears shift poorly in the larger derailleurs and the front brake cable was cut without the metal topper. Despite these issues I had decided to keep the bike because some scratches and the brakes weren't that big of an issue to me. The brake cable was remedied by some electrical tape and I decided I could have the gears fixed inexpensively in a bike shop.*Unfortunately, I didn't realize there were larger issues until they occurred. *On Saturday, **** (** days after purchasing the bike) I was riding around the park with my * yr old son in a bicycle trailer when the right pedal sheared off. It was not reattach able at the park as it looked like a piece had come off and I was unable to locate it. I brought it to a local Bike shop and they informed me that it was poorly assembled which had caused the pedal to be stripped and break off during the ride. Unfortunately to fix the pedal I have to replace the entire crank arm.**The cost of the tune up to fix the changing gears issue, check over the bike and correct the assembly issues and replace the crank arm is going to cost me $***. I do not want to return the bicycle as there wasn't another in stock that I saw and I really do enjoy the bicycle. **I would Like target to reimburse me (in whatever manner they deem fair, gift card, check, return to card, etc) for the cost of fixing the crank arm and the tune up. This was a $*** bicycle that is now costing me over $*** because they had it assembled improperly. I am fortunate that neither my son or I were hurt when the pedal came off but I am disappointed in the quality of the work. I have been a red card holder for many years now and shop regularly at target. I would like target to make this right for me. I would be happy to send in the invoice once the work on the bicycle as proof if requested.
