I, my wife and a circle of friends used this App to send money because we thought its process was quick and easy. The fraud happened when my wife sent money to her friend in Florida, to which person I used to send money also because we have to repay her for a loan that we have gotten from her* I and my wife send her ***.** each, biweekly. For this period, I sent my ***.** dollars on the **th of September which she was able to receive, however my wife portion was unable to be delivered to her because the App was deactivated when she tried to cash it. On the **th of September someone from “Customer Service” called my wife’s friend in Florida claiming that my wife identity needs to be verified before the friend could cash it* while the Customer Service person was on the line the friend called my wife telling her that they need to verify her identity. The person said in order to do so she has to have someone else vouch for her* this is when my wife handed the phone telling me that Cash App Customer Service wanted me to verify her. The guy proceeded to ask me if I used to send money to both my wife and the other person, and I said yes* and then asked me to verify my ** digits of the card that I used on the app, and I did provide it to him. Right after I hung up the phone I received an alert on my phone saying that I just sent money to the friend in Florida, I called the friend on the spot trying to understand what was going on, she had no idea, and I asked her to check her app but she could not get access to her app, I asked her to check her account, nothing was deposit to her account despite the fact the description said it went to her account and others that I used to send money to, and no one received anything from me. I checked mine to see if I can see what was going on, mine was deactivated also, I checked my wife’s app, she was deactivated also. And then I check my phone and see other transactions had happened. I quickly called SunTrust Customer Service because I finally realized that we are victims of fraud. I Filed a claim (claim ********) with the bank but the bank denied my case. I want to get my money back somehow.
