to whom it may concern***My name is Mr Obiekwe Ogugua and I was travelling with my partner, Lucinda Goldman and our * year old son Penn Goldman on Spirit flight *** on *th April **** from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles.**I am reporting a traumatic incident we experienced at the hands of one of your gate agents, who identified herself as Laurice.**We had cleared customs and security with a boxed bread maker. As we were about to board the plane Laurice, in an aggressive manner, informed us that we could not bring our item on board giving us no reason and no option to have the item put in the hold.**We tried every means to reason with her, as the item was a present for Lucinda’s sister-in-law but we were met with hostile and dismissive resistance. We were told that we would not be allowed on our flight if we did not leave our possession behind.**We would have totally understood if Laurice had clearly explained her position and Spirit’s policy but at no point did she take her time to communicate with us in a civil way. This was in stark contrast to the rest of our experience with the Spirit staff. Your ticketing desk staff had earlier, smoothly changed Lucinda’s flight from a Wednesday to Tuesday flight and the cabin crew could not have been more pleasant. **This is the first time we had flown with Spirit and in all my years of travelling, I have never experienced anything like the ordeal we were put through by Laurice who was backed in her decision by her Supervisor who also didn’t take the time to explain what the problem was. All she said was ‘the box doesn’t go on the plane’.**We had travelled with this item on three Jet Blue flights with no problems which made our experience all the more confusing. **We’d also like to add we were not the only passengers affected by Laurice’s behaviour* Talisa and Lauren Ravagnani were treated rudely and questioned about the authenticity of their service dogs.**We would like the return of our bread maker or a full refund and we have attached the original Amazon receipt. Also please notice the dimensions of the boxed bread maker was **” x **.* x *.*” as compared to your personal item allowance which is **” x **” x *”. *If there was a fee required we were never given the option to pay.
