I am a AAA Travel Agent- have booked a client at the Sleep Inn in South Bend IN for stay from *****-** ****. Reservation was booked since April **th ****, at rate of ***.** nt plus tax. Res* ********, for Rodney Burns. Upon checkin, Mr. Burns was told he did not have a room, that AAA booked it for November dates ( not so).The person at the front desk, Rick, told Mr. Burns he had * rooms reserved for other guests, and they offered to give up one of their rooms - a king room and a rollaway at a rate of ***.** plus tax. Since nothing else was avail due to a game, Mr. Burns had to accept and pay higher price. He was also told by Rick, that he should never book with AAA, the agents don't know what they are doing, just to go online and book.*I spoke with Rick while Mr. Burns was there, to no avail- he was to get back to me Monday after searching to see if there was a glitch in the system. I have not heard anything.**. This needs to be resolved - Mr. Burns deserves a credit back .**. This was booked via direct link with a confirmation number from your reservation system.**. Before I file a formal complaint about this hotel, I want to know why anyone would tell a guest not to book with AAA, to go online, when it is a service we offer members and Sleep Inn, part of Choice Hotels is supposed to be a partner chain?*Linda Romanelli, Senior Travel Agent,AAA East Central.
