The issue in GetHuman-kirkslor's own words
We bought our refrigerator (***.*****.***) a year ago. We spent some time picking out the one that fit in our spot and specifically looking for reversible handles on doors. The salesman said they would switch the handles when they delivered and installed the fridge.*The trouble began before we even got the fridge. My husband took off work two different days to be there for install, the first day they never showed up or called. The second day they were suppose to be there first thing in the morning, didn't show up until * or * in the afternoon. They had to remove the doors to get it in the house. They said they preferred not to reverse the handles as they had encountered problems before. We reminded them that was part of the deal but we didn't want them to tear anything up (they were very young kids). After talking to the owner of the store again he said he would come and fix it and again didn't show up or call. More phone calls and he promised he would come. He sent the same kids that weren't comfortable doing it. But they attempted it. Bad idea. They used power tools and stripped one of the threads on one of the pins. A call to the owner, we told him make it right or take it back. He removed a hinge and pin from a showroom unit and brought it out to our house. While he was doing this the kids had already started swapping the handles back to the way it came (on the left). My husband asked what they were doing and was so upset by all of the mistakes so far he didn't make them put the handles on the right side. The owner then said he would come do it or watch us do it when he got another hinge and pin for the showroom unit. We attempted to contact him with no success. So now here we are a year later, still have handles on the wrong side for our set up. I call to have the fridge cleaned per the protection plan we purchased. I explained this when i called. I thought the way they talked he would change the handles but he did not. So the book shows how to do it, there was also an extra insert that shows how to do it. We started to do it ourselves and we now see more trouble.**. There is a bolt missing on the top hinge.**. The ***** that attaches the middle hinge to the wall of the fridge was sticking out *** inch and the head was stripped out. **We got everything moved and working as it was when handles were on the left except* the * screws that attach the bottom of the freezer handle to the bottom of the freezer door wouldn't go all the way in. So we investigated and the holes were not tapped far enough into the door. **We are beyond exasperated. At this point we need a bolt for the top, a ***** for the middle, and the holes have to be threaded deeper. I am using the freezer door without a handle.* Either someone needs to fix the holes or send us a new freezer door with it set up with handle on right side. **Please help. We don't want to cross Kenmore off our list. We have always been happy with the quality and service.
