Hello, I recently bought a Backup Plus Slim hard drive. It worked well for a few weeks but now it's not appearing on both my Macbook Air and Macbook Pro. When plugged in, the Disk Utility freezes and won't open until I disconnect the hard drive from the laptop. However, the hard drive does show up when connected directly to my Samsung TV. I'm seeking assistance as I couldn't find a solution online. Thank you, Fred.

I encountered difficulties while trying to buy Seagate recovery software. The website kicked me out twice before I could successfully complete the purchase on the third try. Unfortunately, I accidentally ended up purchasing three licenses instead of one due to items being added to the cart with each failed attempt. I have only used one license and would like a refund or credit for the two unused licenses. The purchase was made approximately an hour ago, and the order number is [redacted].

I recently upgraded to Windows 10, and I can access my drive by writing to it, but I can't see the dashboard. Without the dashboard, I can't confirm if it's working properly. I've read online that the dashboard might not be compatible with Windows 10. Is this correct? If it's not true, how can I make the dashboard appear? Lastly, are there any updates planned? I really appreciate how well this device works and how easy it is to use. Please consider updating the software for the Windows 10 dashboard.

I have a Seagate FreeAgent 1000GB drive that causes my Internet Connection to drop due to electromagnetic interference, detectable through AM radio. The interference disrupts the router modem, leading to packet drops and disconnections when the drive is powered up and connected to any USB port. Despite testing with different modems, the issue persists and affects connectivity up to 80 meters away. After involving my ISP, TPG, and organizations like ACMA, it was discovered that the interference occurs even when the drive is connected to devices on separate power circuits. This ongoing issue has been traced back to a design fault in the Seagate drive/adapter, failing to meet ACMA or FCC standards. The affected products are Seagate FreeAgent 1000GB P/N: 9ZC2AG-[redacted] S/N: 2GEVBF9E and Sunny Switching Adapter Model: SYS1[redacted]. I am seeking information on whether other customers have reported this issue and what corrective action Seagate intends to take.

I purchased a 1TB internal hard disk drive from Best Buy in Cascade Station, Portland on September 20th. However, upon installation, I discovered that it was only a 500GB drive in a mislabeled box. When I contacted Best Buy customer service, they advised me to erase my data before returning it. I bought a $40 cable for this purpose and attempted to return the product. Best Buy refused the return, citing mismatched serial numbers and claiming they didn't carry the 500GB drive we received. The manager allowed a one-time return for the cable, but we are still at a loss of $70 for the unusable drive. Kindly advise on how to resolve this issue. Thank you, Kacie E.

I am experiencing occasional sound stutters when playing audio from this portable disk on my Windows 10 64-bit system. I have tried various troubleshooting steps, such as using different media players like foobar, groove muse, and Windows media player, adjusting buffer sizes, testing on different computers, disabling USB power-saving options like selective suspend and preventing the computer from turning off the USB mass storage device. The issue persists as the same files play smoothly from internal hard drives or USB keys.

I am experiencing issues with my Seagate Wireless Plus 2TB hard drive. The hard drive emits a wireless signal that my mobile device can detect, but when I try to access it through the app, it fails to connect and display any stored data. This problem has occurred despite the drive functioning properly previously and containing important data. Additionally, attempts to connect the hard drive to a computer via a cable have also been unsuccessful. Although the device shows LED indicators and the hard drive spins as usual, it refuses to establish a connection with any device.

I attempted the following steps, but unfortunately, none of them were successful. Step 1: 1. Open "Folder Options" and navigate to the "View" tab. 2. Select "Show hidden files, folders, or drives." 3. Uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files" box. 4. Click "OK." 5. Search for your files on the external drive. 6. To revert changes, return to "Folder Options," go to the "View" tab, and click "Restore Defaults." 7. Click "OK." Step 2: 1. Right-click and choose "Run as administrator." 2. Execute the command: attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.* - Note: Replace "g" with your external hard drive letter. Step 3: I conducted a virus scan, but no viruses were detected.

I have been using a Seagate Backup Plus Portable Drive 1TB since last November. It has been functioning well until today's incident. Earlier, my family and I watched a movie through the drive connected to the TV, and it operated flawlessly. After connecting it to my laptop for some work, the drive continued to work perfectly. I managed files within the drive and copied some to my laptop without any issue. However, when trying to use it on the TV again, the drive was not recognized. Surprisingly, it couldn't be detected when connected to either my laptop or an older MacBook Pro. I own a Macbook Air [redacted] with OS X Yosemite. Given the importance of the data saved on the hard drive, I am concerned about its backup status. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide. Thank you so much.

I recently got a new Windows 10 computer, which means I no longer require my old Windows 7 device to be backed up. Despite deleting all the old backed-up files from my Seagate drive, there remains a 4-byte file on the drive in the folder path: Seagate Sync\z_ms_w\00064f[redacted]7e105. The file is titled: ".colstatus". I'm unsure if I still need this file or the Seagate Sync folder. Additionally, within the folder, there are two remaining files: ".mfef" - [redacted] bytes and ".synccfc" - 2.40 KB. Each of these files occupies 4.00 KB on the disk. I'm uncertain of the purpose of these files and whether it is safe to delete them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking to repurpose my Seagate drive as an external storage for documents, photos, and files on my new Windows 10 computer. I have already cleared out my old backup from a Windows 7 computer, but I noticed a few leftover files on the drive. There is a 4-byte file named .colstatus in the seagate sync folder \z_ms_w\00064f[redacted]7e105. Additionally, I found .mfef ([redacted] bytes) and .synccfc (2.40 KB) in the folder, taking up 4.00 KB each. I'm unsure if these files are necessary for anything if I am not using it for auto-backup purposes. Can I safely delete these files and the seagate sync folder, or should they remain untouched? Your guidance on whether to keep or remove these files will be greatly appreciated since I only intend to utilize the drive for external storage. Thank you.

Subject: Disappointment with Recent Seagate Purchase Dear Sir, I recently purchased an external hard drive from your company and sadly, it turned out to be a lemon. As a dedicated Seagate user for nearly three decades, I have never encountered such a poorly designed product. I have multiple Seagate drives for my business backups, and this 4TB drive was intended to copy 2TB of data in one go, which it failed to do. Despite reaching out to your customer support for assistance, I was informed that I could only exchange the faulty drive for the same model, which is not a viable solution as I already have two non-functional drives of the same type. I am deeply disappointed with this experience and would appreciate a replacement with a different model that functions as intended. Sadly, if this matter is not resolved satisfactorily, I will have to discontinue my future purchases from your company, and I will also inform my acquaintances about these issues. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Neville Stanger [redacted]-35 Carmel Country Rd San Diego, CA [redacted]

I recently purchased a Seagate Backup Plus Slim external hard drive and am uncertain if it is compatible with my Chromebook. I'm looking to transfer files from my Windows 10 computer to the hard drive and access them on my Chrome OS device. When I connected the hard drive to my Chromebook, I received a message indicating it is not compatible. It suggested searching for a suitable replacement app on the Chrome webstore. However, I am unsure which apps would work. I encountered a similar issue with the Mac version of the Start Here file on the hard drive. Can you provide guidance on how I can use this hard drive with both of my computers?

A little over a week ago, I reached out for assistance with my personal cloud. The website promised a response within one working day, but after three days, I heard nothing. I tried contacting them again with no success. I even attempted to reach out to Seagate's CEO, but still encountered silence. This is my first time facing issues with Seagate's support, but the lack of response for over a week is frustrating. I own three non-functioning Seagate products that require support, and the absence of assistance might lead me to avoid purchasing their products in the future.

I have encountered some difficulty setting up a return merchandise authorization (RMA) for my hybrid drive under warranty. Despite providing my shipping details as requested, I was informed that Seagate cannot ship a replacement drive to me in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, due to postal restrictions in Kuwait. This situation has been frustrating, especially as it takes a full workday to receive a response between each correspondence. My case number is [redacted]3.

I have three 2TB external hard drives, but two of them are not working. After entering the serial and model numbers on the website, one is eligible for a return, while the other shows it has already been returned. However, I encountered a frustrating issue during the return process for the accepted item. The page kept failing to load during the 3/4 step, forcing me to restart each time. I was also unable to reach customer support through the provided number, so I resorted to searching for a reliable number on a forum. It's disappointing that the email link on the support page led to a crashing page. This experience highlights the necessity of resources like "gethuman," especially for individuals who are less comfortable with technology.

I recently purchased a Seagate 1.5TB external hard drive and connected it to my MacBook. Upon the initial connection, I encountered a readme file with instructions based on the operating system I use. Since I have a Mac, the instructions directed me to go to Disk Utility to create a partition on the drive. Unfortunately, when I attempted to do so, the partition option was greyed out. In my confusion, I clicked on "erase," causing my external drive to become unreadable by the system. What steps should I take to resolve this issue?

I am looking to consolidate several external Seagate drives - a 1TB, 2TB, and another 1TB onto a new Seagate 6TB Backup Plus Hub. I have successfully backed up my computer to the new 6TB drive. My plan is to gather all pictures scattered across these four locations onto the 6TB drive. After that, I will use duplicate photo software to remove any duplicate images from the 6TB drive, ensuring I have a clean master copy of all my photos.

I have a Seagate 5TB Backup Plus Hub, model STEL[redacted], still sealed in its box. I am unable to locate any details about this model on the website as it seems the 5TB version has been discontinued. The Part Number is 1XAAY1-[redacted] and the Serial Number is NAST1WW2. How can I check if there is a firmware update for this drive? I would appreciate any additional information that Seagate may have in their records or previously had online about this specific hard drive. Thank you. D. Frank

I encountered an issue when I arrived at my great aunt's house for the Christmas holiday. The 2TB HDD model SRD00F1 was unresponsive when connected to the Xbox, despite trying different cords with my brother's same model and storage drive. Although I managed to get it working temporarily by restarting my Xbox several times, it stopped working completely last night. The drive blinks when I start a game or when I hard reset the system, preventing me from accessing my files.
