Help with my SafeLink issue

Hello, I have been using Safelink's service since last June of ****. Apparently, they canceled my account with no notice to me about * days ago. I had no idea that I was without phone service. I do not want to renew with them as I have a job now and can pay for another service. I can get a discount through my employer. The phone is mine from Verizon which I had an account with prior to Safelink. I purchased a SIM card from Safelink in order to make my phone compatible with Tracfone, the carrier they provide the service through. I want to know if my phone is free to be moved to another carrier or does Safelink need to release it? I am unable to call them because they cancelled my account and I can't make any phone calls. Their customer service is extremely poor as evidenced by the fact that they canceled my account without any notice to me. I want to move to a new carrier. I want to make sure my phone is free to do that. I would appreciate any help.
GetHuman-jeltimo did not yet indicate what SafeLink should do to make this right.
