The issue in GetHuman-clindes's own words
Before heading on vacation to Ireland, we checked the RBC website to see if we needed to notify you that we were traveling. On the website it says that this is not necessary.*Within two days of being in Ireland, both my credit card and my wife's credit card were blocked.*I repeatedly called the number on the back of the card: ***-***-**** and it would not go through. Eventually I worked out that I had to put a *** before the number (which is not clear on the card). *This got me through to a service representative who told me that my card was blocked as I had paid for an expense to a car rental company...which was correct. She immediately reinstated the card. My concern is that I have now been charged $** by Bell Canada for making what I believed was a toll free call.**Here is my concern:**. We checked the website and it said notification of travel was not necessary (which it obviously is as this is the second time it has happened when I am overseas)**. I called the number on the back of the card, and it requires the Canada dialling prefix**. I get charged by my cell phone company for roaming fees because I have to call you to reactivate my credit card.**As this issue was caused by you blocking my card and I had to have it reinstated, I should not have to pay for the long distance and roaming fees now charged by Bell Canada.
GetHuman-clindes did not yet indicate what Royal Bank of Canada should do to make this right.
