I regret having to transfer my membership due to an incident caused by another member at the Myrtle Beach Planet Fitness. Although they reported me, I stood my ground and now find myself banned from the facility. This situation is challenging as I am disabled, as is my best friend who is a retired police officer. It is disheartening to be relocated to the Murrell's Inlet location where my medical conditions are unfamiliar to the staff. My trust in the Myrtle Beach team, particularly assistant manager Chris who assisted me during a recent incident, took time to build. I hope for similar support at the new gym but am apprehensive. Reviewing security footage of the conflict may clarify my position. I remain disappointed by the circumstances. Feel free to reach out for further discussion. Thank you. Nunzio Guerriero

It is unfortunate that I had to change my membership at Myrtle Beach Planet Fitness due to an incident involving another member. Despite standing up for myself, I have been banned from the gym. Being disabled, along with my retired police officer best friend, I am concerned about the situation, especially as my medical issues seem unknown at Murrell's Inlet Planet Fitness. The staff at Myrtle Beach had gained my trust, especially Chris, who assisted me when my legs gave out. I hope for similar support elsewhere. If security footage of the incident is reviewed, I believe it will shed light on my dissatisfaction. I would appreciate further communication regarding this matter. Thank you, Nunzio Guerriero.

To whom it may concern, I have been attempting to cancel my contract for two years. Despite signing a 12-month agreement, Planet Fitness kept debiting my account after the contract should have ended. Unfortunately, numerous attempts to cancel have been unsuccessful. Even the staff seem unsure how to process cancellations, mentioning they would not join the gym due to these difficulties. My calls consistently go to voicemail with no response. Returning the debits as a form of communication only led to threats of legal action. It is frustrating that despite my efforts, I cannot reach anyone for assistance while facing potential legal consequences for discontinuing payments. Please address and resolve this matter promptly.

I wrote a letter to cancel my membership back in [redacted], but they have continued to withdraw monthly fees from my bank account. Despite my attempts to stop these payments and multiple requests to cancel—both in person and by mail—the club insists I must pay $[redacted] in accumulated late fees before they will cancel the membership. This is unfair and unreasonable, especially given my health issues and financial circumstances. I have not utilized any services since [redacted] and am unable to work due to my health. I reside in Sulphur, LA, and the local club is causing me a great deal of stress. Any assistance in resolving this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. - DJ

Last month, I was deceived when I signed up for their promotion of $1 to join and then $10 to $20 monthly. After I paid the $1, they tried to charge me for the full month earlier than expected. When I couldn't use the gym due to this, I requested to cancel my account as they were not truthful. Despite this, they are still attempting to withdraw funds. The club manager explained I need to pay to cease the charges. I disagree with having to pay more money to halt an account that was initiated based on false advertising. I believe I should not be responsible for payment to stop incorrect charges. I simply want the account erased as if it was never opened. Please close the account.

My wife (S. Mays) and I (P. Mays) both signed up for Planet Fitness at $10 a month each. We were never informed about a contract. When I visited the Canton, Ohio location, the staff informed me we were under contract and would have to pay $[redacted] each to cancel early. I want to cancel both memberships without incurring any fees since we were not aware of being locked into a contract when signing up.

I contacted Planet Fitness at the Parker St location in Springfield, MA a month ago to cancel my membership due to moving out of state. They instructed me to send a letter, which I did on February 15th. Despite expecting the February 17th charge due to mail delay, I was surprised by a March 3rd renewal fee deduction of 39 dollars. After calling, they claimed they didn't receive my letter and advised me to go to a local branch to transfer and cancel my membership, but I would still be charged the annual fee. I don't understand why I'm being penalized for an error on their part and would like a refund and immediate cancellation of my membership. -Jordan P.

Dear Community, I am reaching out to share my recent experience at Planet Fitness. After relocating within Memphis, TN, I switched to the Knight Arnold Road location. Unfortunately, I encountered issues with staff mishandling my debit card information multiple times in a short period. Specifically, a manager named Ron Beal made me feel uncomfortable by insisting I store my gym bag in the locker room, which was a departure from my routine and made me uneasy due to safety concerns. On another occasion, Ron threatened to involve the police because I was wearing flat boots on the treadmill, causing unnecessary tension. Feeling harassed and unsafe, I decided to cancel my membership. Despite trying to contact corporate by phone, I was unable to reach anyone directly and felt unsupported by the staff at the gym. These experiences have left me dissatisfied and questioning my membership at the Knight Arnold location. Thank you, Jasmine

Today, on March 6, [redacted], at 7:00 AM, I experienced verbal abuse and harassment from a Planet Fitness employee at the Laurel, MD location. As I approached the entrance, I scanned my ID card after another member was searching for theirs. The female employee, described as black with braids, made a comment about me scanning my ID. When I asked her to repeat herself, she proceeded to insult me, calling me a derogatory term and threatening me. I then moved to submit a review of this incident at the terminal. This behavior was extremely unprofessional and offensive. I am now considering legal action to address this verbal abuse by a Planet Fitness employee. Thank you for addressing this issue. Sincerely, Janice Rose

Hello, my name is Nova. I was a loyal member of Planet Fitness before it became 24/7. Recently, when I inquired at the store about any ongoing deals or discounts, the employees informed me there were none. However, the next day, I found out there was a sign-up promotion for just a dollar. When I approached the employees about this, they were rude to both me and my wife, who is also a member. This misinformation and rudeness have left me feeling frustrated. Despite enjoying the gym, these experiences have made me reconsider my membership. I even spoke to the management at the Vero Beach location, but they were dismissive. I'm sharing my concerns here because the behavior of the staff has been consistently disappointing. Thank you.

I visited the Planet Fitness in Greenbriar in November and requested a freeze on my account due to an ankle injury. Despite being informed it could only be extended for three months, I was incorrectly charged $22.01 in January. I promptly canceled my membership on the 30th and was given a cancellation paper by Devan Whitaker. Although the manager processed a refund and assured it would be received within 30 days, I have not yet been refunded. This situation is unacceptable, and I urge you to return my money promptly. If not resolved, I will escalate this matter to the Better Business Bureau. Your staff at the Greenbriar location lacks proper business skills. Please address this issue promptly. Thank you.

As a new Silver Sneakers member, I was thrilled to meet my coach, Cody, at the Hull Street location in Midlothian, Virginia. He introduced me to the 30-minute fitness program with 20 stations, which is perfect for my needs at 71 years old. However, last week, I encountered some issues with other gym-goers not respecting the program. Even after discussing the matter with them, the situation turned unpleasant. I believe there should be a sign reminding everyone to be considerate of those following the 30-minute program. I have already reported the incident to the manager, but I am uncertain if any action will be taken.

My recent experience at Planet Fitness was disappointing. Despite receiving a birthday coupon for a free bottle of water, the staff's handling of the situation was frustrating. Upon presenting the coupon, the front desk attendant was unable to provide the complimentary water, claiming only the manager could do so. Subsequent interactions with the manager resulted in being given a warm flavored drink instead of the advertised cold water bottle. The manager's unhelpful response and offer of a dollar store alternative left me feeling even more dissatisfied. This experience not only wasted my time but also impacted my workout, as I rely on having water available while using the elliptical. Clearer communication about what is being offered and staff training in customer service would greatly improve the overall experience at the gym.

Good afternoon, Today, I visited my local gym in North Charleston, SC to cancel my membership. The representative mentioned that I needed to pay an annual fee dating back to March [redacted], amounting to approximately $54. When I signed up, I was told the first annual fee would be after a year. Recently, I was charged $80 for this fee, which is confusing. Previously, when checking online, I had no outstanding balance, adding to my confusion. I'm upset by this overcharge and the misinformation provided. I request a refund for this situation.

I am writing to express my frustration with the current commercial for your gym. The advertisements are very annoying, and I believe there's room for improvement in promoting memberships. Highlight the great benefits like tanning, massage chairs, 24-hour gym access, and guest privileges. Incorporate individuals of all ages in the commercials to appeal to a wider audience. Make the advertisements more appealing and show why working out at your gym is worthwhile. I was particularly unimpressed by the recent promotion for the black membership. Please consider being more creative in your approach. Thank you for listening to my feedback. If you need any ideas, you can reach me via email.

I have been consistently charged an extra $10 monthly by the gym without prior notification of any issues. The gym claimed they are charging my debit card instead of my designated checking account. Despite my correct contact information being on file, they have been unwilling to rectify the situation or refund the overcharges. When requesting to speak with the district manager or corporate, they declined to provide a number and advised me to wait for the general manager to contact me. Feeling dissatisfied with this treatment, I now aim to escalate the matter within 48 hours if no resolution is provided, which includes potentially involving the BBB and sharing my experience on social media. I prefer to avoid direct communication with the gym and would rather address this issue with higher management to have my account corrected and reimbursement issued for the overcharges spanning the past few months.

I am a new member at the gym and had a bad experience in the handicap dressing room. A staff member got angry when she couldn't open my locked door and used inappropriate language. After that, another worker accused me of smoking in the restroom, which I did not do. When I explained that I was not smoking and that I am disabled, the employee was rude. I felt embarrassed and mistreated. The behavior of the employees was unacceptable, especially since I have witnessed unprofessional conduct on other occasions at the gym. I would like someone to contact me to address this issue. If the situation is not resolved, I will have to consider canceling my membership.

Dear Sir/Madam, As a Planet Fitness customer for nearly 4 years, I am reaching out regarding an issue with my membership. After relocating from Georgia back to Michigan, I encountered difficulties transferring my membership. Despite paying monthly fees at both locations, I was unexpectedly charged extra this month. When attempting to cancel my Georgia membership, I was informed of an additional fee. I have faithfully paid my dues and seek assistance in resolving this matter without incurring more charges. I kindly request your prompt attention to the situation. Sincerely, Amos Agatovure Lansing, MI

I recently joined Planet Fitness on February 6, [redacted], with a $10 membership. Despite being recommended by multiple people, I encountered an issue where I was charged $25 on February 27, [redacted], instead of the expected $10 monthly fee. When I inquired about this discrepancy with an employee on March 17, [redacted], I was informed that there had been an error during the sign-up process. I was reassured that the issue would be resolved, including a promised refund for the additional charges. Unfortunately, when I contacted the club manager Randell Carranza, he said the late fee couldn't be refunded. Instead, I was offered to waive the late fee for March if I paid the monthly fee. Feeling frustrated by the situation, I visited the gym on March 21, [redacted], to work out and pay my membership fee, only to find out I had accrued further charges totaling $49 due to the past due amounts and an annual fee. This ongoing issue has left me dissatisfied with my experience at Planet Fitness and if it is not promptly rectified, I will have to consider terminating my membership.
