I'd like to cancel my NYSC membership in Matawan, NJ as my job has a new free gym. The club shut down for 2 weeks due to code violations. I tried cancelling before it closed but was told to speak to the manager who is now unavailable after the club reopened. I emailed Aaron White twice with no response. They also owe me a refund for the 2 weeks they were closed. I hope to resolve this without legal action. Thank you.

I was mistakenly enrolled in a membership without my consent at NYSC. I was under the impression that I was signing up for a $5 ten-day trial to evaluate the facilities with no further commitment required after the trial ended. However, I later discovered that the $5 payment was a deposit for a NYSC membership. Despite my efforts to cancel the membership by contacting them numerous times and visiting in person, I have been continuously billed by the company. It has been difficult to reach management as they are frequently unavailable due to lunch breaks or meetings. This experience has been frustrating, and despite the discounts my job offers at NYSC, I am no longer interested in being a member. I am seeking a cancellation of my membership and a refund for all unauthorized charges. Please contact me at your earliest convenience through private messaging or by calling me directly at [redacted]. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

I canceled my membership at the Greenpoint gym in July [redacted] because I moved to another state. Despite this, I have been continuously charged $34.99 and $45.00 monthly for the past 2 1/2 years. I have contacted the gym via phone and email every month to stop these charges and request a refund, but the issue persists. These unauthorized charges have caused me significant overdraft fees. I have evidence of these charges in my bank statements. I am seeking a refund of the charges and the overdraft fees. I have tried to resolve this matter countless times with no response. I urgently need someone to address this issue as soon as possible. Thank you.

I was charged $34.99 in October without receiving prior notice of the fee increase. My usual monthly charge was $24.99. I called to cancel, and the staff at the gym told me to come in person. I visited in early September, showed my card, and was assured my membership would be canceled. No paperwork was requested. Despite canceling in September, I was wrongly charged for October. I shouldn't have been billed. I tried reaching out to Richard Gearhart via email multiple times but received no response. His customer service is extremely poor. I am requesting a full refund due to the lack of communication and service.

I would like to provide additional details to my complaint from earlier this evening. My other concern was informing the staff about a man entering the women's locker room for the second time. Despite my attempt to address it lightheartedly, suggesting a bright pink sign with flowers, Clive dismissed my report alleging that "'no one else complained'". His response left me holding back tears due to the humiliating and invalidating treatment. I want to clarify that I did not pose any threat or use inappropriate language. During both instances when Clive approached me while talking to another staff member, I remained calm and did not raise my voice. When I brought up the issue of clothes scattered in the locker room and almost tripping over items, I politely asked an employee to make an announcement for women to store their belongings in lockers. However, Clive's aggressive behavior continued as he followed me outside, falsely accusing me of making daily complaints. I expressed my intention to escalate the matter further as Clive threatened to revoke my membership and restrict my access to the club, leading to my insistence on his dismissal. I hope you will support my case considering that members like myself contribute to staff salaries. Clive's actions seem unjustified, and I wonder if his conduct is racially motivated since he is black, and I am white.

Subject: Concern Regarding Recent Transactions To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to address some recent transactions on my account that have raised concerns. Despite seeking assistance from the staff at my local NYSC facility, the issue remains unresolved. Beginning with my attempt to cancel my membership due to pregnancy, I have not been able to utilize any NYSC services since October upon medical advice. Despite this, certain charges have been debited from my account without explanation. Could you please provide further details on the following transactions: 1) Nov 20 - $74.63 2) Nov 7 - $10.66 3) Nov 2 - $53.30 Given my current financial constraints as a stay-at-home mom, I kindly request a refund for the aforementioned amounts. Your prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your assistance. Best regards, Marija G. Membership ID: [redacted]

Hello, my name is Hanyu Huang. I recently signed up for a month-to-month gym membership about two months ago. I was told that I could cancel at any time without any additional fees. When I requested a copy of my contract via email, I did not receive it. I have now realized I need to cancel as I am relocating to California. The gym informed me they would charge a $[redacted] cancellation fee, which was not previously mentioned to me. Unfortunately, I am unable to visit in person as I am leaving tomorrow. Can you please advise me on how to cancel my membership without incurring the extra charge? Thank you for your assistance.

I've noticed that my gym membership fee increased by $15. Unfortunately, the sauna hasn't been functional since I joined. The gym equipment is constantly out of order, and the weights are never re-racked. The condition of the men's locker room is appalling, with a shortage of lockers. I am at a loss as to why I am being charged extra. Whenever I address these issues at the gym, I am directed to contact customer care, but no one seems able to assist, despite the ease of taking payments. I receive daily emails promoting new membership deals, even though I have been a loyal customer for several years. It seems evident that the funds collected are not being reinvested in the gym. If a resolution to these problems cannot be found, I would like to cancel my membership. Considering the promotional offers being circulated, I am hopeful that there would be a way to address this matter.

Dear Sir/Madam, as a dedicated fitness enthusiast with multiple gym memberships and a long-standing career as an attorney near your facility, I am disappointed by the repeated letdowns at your Remsen Street gym. Despite my positive recommendations to fellow legal professionals, the recurring issues with locker assignments and staff conduct have been disheartening. The disregard shown by the managers during the incidents where locker contents were discarded without empathy or accountability has led to frustration among myself and my colleagues. The lack of humility and dismissive responses have caused some to consider switching to other gym options like Equinox and Planet Fitness. While we understand that errors occur, the apparent arrogance displayed by management has made it challenging for me to continue endorsing NY Sports Club to others. I hope for improved communication and accountability from the management to prevent further disappointments in the future.

Dear Sir/Madam, As a dedicated fitness enthusiast with memberships at various gyms due to frequent work travels, I have been a loyal member of NY Sports Club near the Brooklyn state and federal courthouse for over 25 years. I have always found NY Sports Club to offer superior equipment and employ knowledgeable staff compared to competitors like Equinox and Planet Fitness. Despite my positive experiences overall, I must express my disappointment with the management at the Remsen Street gym. In [redacted], I recommended my colleagues to rent lockers at the gym to make it more convenient for us to work out. Unfortunately, six months later, all our locks were cut, and our belongings were discarded due to incorrect locker assignments. To make matters worse, this same situation occurred again in November [redacted]. The excuses provided by the staff regarding locker assignments were unconvincing, and the lack of empathy and accountability from the managers was disheartening. Such repeated incidents of carelessness and arrogance have led my colleagues to consider switching to other gyms like Equinox and Planet Fitness. It is challenging for me to continue recommending NY Sports Club in good faith after these experiences. While mistakes are understandable, the lack of humility displayed by the managers is unacceptable. Sincerely, [Initials]

In [redacted], I joined Tapout, which was later taken over by NYSC. In August [redacted], I had to cancel my membership due to severe heel spurs. I realized in early February [redacted] that I was still being charged. After visiting NYSC multiple times, I was assured by staff that my membership was closed, but charges persisted. When I spoke with a manager on December 3, he stated I should have sought him out earlier for compensation. I was also unaware of a price increase and never received notification. The manager was unhelpful and cold, offering no resolution. I'm seeking a refund from February [redacted] till now and have instructed my bank to stop these charges. I expect a written response before proceeding further.

Last month, I noticed an unexpected $10 increase in my monthly gym membership fee, jumping from $21 to $31. Despite checking my emails, I found no notification from the gym stating there would be a fee hike, even when I looked back a year. When I spoke to a manager at the club, I was told that all membership fees had been raised by the corporation, and supposedly, members were informed via email. However, I reiterated not receiving any communication and expressed my financial constraints as a college student struggling to afford the increased fee of $30 when my gym visits are infrequent. The manager offered to request reverting to the $20 fee, to begin the next month at the lower rate. Nevertheless, when December arrived, I was still charged $30, leading to my decision to cancel my membership, despite being told there would be no cancellation fee when I signed up a year earlier. Despite reluctantly paying the fee, the manager mentioned upcoming annual charges in December, a deviation from earlier information that it would occur every February. Lastly, there was the issue of a 45-day notice period required prior to cancellation, compounding my frustration at the lack of communication and shifting terms.

I am writing to address an unfair business practice I experienced at your Matawan, NJ club. Despite multiple attempts to cancel my membership, I was unable to do so as only the club manager was authorized to process cancellations. Visits to the club proved futile as I was consistently informed that the manager was unavailable. Messages left for the manager went unanswered, and staff indicated they were also unable to reach the manager. The club was closed for maintenance for three weeks during this time, yet we were still charged for services we could not access. In response, we had to block our credit card to prevent further unauthorized charges. Two months later, we received an email stating we were overdue on payments and faced collection. The new manager informed us that we were legally bound to pay according to our contract, disregarding our attempts to cancel. Despite our efforts, we were charged for two extra months and faced late fees. The new manager's response, citing the contract terms, failed to address our unsuccessful cancellation attempts. Additionally, we were not previously informed that account closures could be processed at other branches.

On September 28, [redacted], I cancelled my gym membership with a staff member at the front desk. He assured me he would pass it on to a manager for processing and that I would receive a confirmation call. Despite my numerous follow-up calls, I never received that confirmation. After reaching out via email to the general manager, Fanny Santamaria, I was informed she had not been at the location but would process my cancellation upon her return. Even after waiting, I never received the confirmation. Approximately a month later, I received a voicemail from Nicole regarding my membership, but my return calls went unanswered. Now, over two months later, I've been informed of potential collections for unpaid bills, despite believing my membership was cancelled. This situation is frustrating, especially considering the unaddressed broken machines and lack of maintenance. The disregard for the members' concerns, coupled with the lax security at the gym, is concerning and unacceptable.

I used to be a member of NYSC Glendale, but due to work, I had to transfer to NYSC Great Neck. I paid all my fees, and they allowed me to keep my $24.99 monthly charge. Now that I have found a job closer to Glendale again and wish to return, I am being asked to pay $45.99, which I find unjust as I have been a loyal member and really enjoy this club. Why the sudden increase in charges? I never cancelled my membership. Is there any way to address this issue?

As a Bayonne, New Jersey NYSC member, I have faithfully scanned in daily for the last three months. Today, I was informed my membership expired three months ago, despite never receiving any prior notifications via phone, email, or in-person at the front desk about this issue. I specifically updated my credit card information three months ago, but it seems it was not processed correctly by the staff. I am now facing a large lump sum payment due to their error. It feels extremely unfair that no one brought this to my attention for three months. When I raised this concern with the manager, I felt dismissed as they were solely focused on collecting the outstanding amount, refusing to acknowledge their mistake or see things from my perspective.

I switched from LA Fitness to NYSC nearly a year ago. While I like the gym, I am very disappointed with the management and customer service. This is the third time I have been overcharged. Despite speaking with the manager Jessica at the Greatneck location multiple times, she apologizes and fixes the account, but the issues persist. I signed up for a $20/month plan but keep being charged $30/month. Jessica promised me a free month in December to make up for the overcharges, yet I ended up being charged $40. I am uncomfortable with my card on file and considering canceling my membership due to the constant billing discrepancies. I've recommended friends and family to this gym and feel let down. I don't know what else to do to resolve these issues. It's disheartening to have to worry about my financial agreements. I may need to resort to social media to get the attention I deserve.

I have been receiving unwanted emails from Anthony at the Scarsdale club for several months now. Despite leaving messages at the front desk, sending direct emails, and leaving voicemails on both his work and personal phones, I am still receiving these solicitations. It was even mentioned that he doesn't know how to remove me, which is hard to believe. Additionally, there is no unsubscribe option in his emails. Please ensure that my email, [redacted], is promptly removed from his mailing list.

For the past three months, I have been attempting to halt payments to this club. I've worked with three or four different trainers, but the equipment never seemed to function properly. One trainer even put me on medical leave due to a knee injury. Despite being on medical leave, the manager has been unhelpful and rude. Today, I discovered another charge of $[redacted] on my account. I demand that the charges be reversed promptly. If I do not receive a satisfactory resolution soon, I will have no choice but to seek legal assistance. I am frustrated and need this situation resolved as soon as possible.

I have been dealing with three different managers to address my cancellation problem. Initially, I visited NYSC on Oct 24, [redacted], to cancel my account, but I was told by a new employee that she couldn't cancel it since it was her first day, and there was no manager on site. After contacting Ryan and paying the required fees, my account was still not canceled. Despite explaining this situation to Kristina via email, the account remained active, and I was later charged an unexpected annual fee on 11/17. Despite my attempts to clarify the charges with Thomas and Ryan at the location, I never received a follow-up. Now, I am being asked to pay additional late fees on top of the initial cancellation charges. Could someone please provide clarification on these charges? I have been trying to resolve this issue for almost a month now and have not received a satisfactory response from the staff.
