Hello. My name is Olena Bondar-Stroude. I have been away in Europe to go through a yoga teacher training for two months since July * to September **, and before going away I stopped by physically at a **th str & *th ave location in Manhattan to ask to freeze my membership. The front desk person first said that I would have to come back because the manager is about to leave. And then the manager was passing us by, and front desk person called her up to a front desk and said: will you have time to take this lady before you leave? She needs to freeze a membership. And she said: “just put down your name on a sticky note, and I will take care of it tomorrow”. And I specifically asked: do I need to call or stop by after this? They said no.*So I just relied on that, that it would be done without my further participation. And then I came back from Europe, I still thought that the membership was frozen. I did not pay attention to my bank statements, and only recently I realized that NYSC continued to charge me for the month of July and August and September, and that I have an outstanding balance. I want to dispute this outstanding balance because I was assured my membership was frozen. I spoke on the phone with a manager of **rd str and *th ave Chris Doris, he did not try to help me in this situation stating I do not have a tangible proof - email or any correspondence about the conevrsation about freezing my membership. Unfortunately, it is the truth, and I don’t have anything to show for what I’m telling, but I have been with a company for ** years, and you can check records that whenever I went away usually summer months I’d always freeze my membership. Why would I not do that if I realized that I was being charged for the months I know I’m deliberately going away and won’t be able to use the gym. *I feel unfairness here, because I relied on a worker that turned out to be unprofessional, and now that location gym is closed, too, and I can’t even prove anything. I want my membership cancelled I want to dispute the outstanding balance. *Thanks for taking the time to help me with this issue.
