I am an art student at university and am looking to take screenshots of different scenes so that I can use them for drawing studies and composition studies. The issue at hand is that taking a screenshot only results in a black image (with subtitles, if they are enabled), and this is preventing me from doing the things that I’d like to do. From what I understand, this is a protection feature that prevents people from pirating by using screen capture software, but this is impeding my studies. To be clear, I only want to be able to take individual shots from films and shows, which on their own should not really be considered pirated content. The individual shots are all removed from the context of the rest of the media assets. My goal in taking screenshots is only to replicate by methods of hand-tracing, image editing, etc. or for mark-up, as if by pen and pencil.
