I have recently come across a chunk of money in which I was going to use to pay my student loan. The paper work I have says the loan at the time of graduation was about $**k. The Navient customer service rep said $**k. That seemed off. It will take a few weeks to get the statement so I can examine it. I don't want this effecting my credit anymore, yet I don't want to making payments if the numbers aren't correct. Also, when asking when I should make the payment, a customer service rep recommended forbearance then payment. He didn't state that it would add to my loan until I asked him about the negative repercussions. When I asked if paying next week without forbearance would have less of a negative impact, he said yes. He ended the call by hanging up quickly. I'm frustrated at the predatory training the customer service reps have and the fact that they truly don't care.
