On ****** a Motel * hotel room was booked for July *-*, ****, Itenerary number *********, RE: Henri Davis, Confirmation* for payment:************, through HotelPlanner.com*Res** for Location: Motel * Ocala Conference Center **** N.W.Blitchton Rd. Ocala, FL *****. At approx *:**p.m. on ****** I checked into the hotel and was assigned Rm ***, I placed my personal belongings in the room and left for Gainesville VAMC to pickup my wife after a procerdure.*Upon my return to the room, the key did not work* a young white male came to the door, and said he'd been in the room since ****p sleeping* the room was filled with cigarette smoke. My wife had reserved and paid for the room prior to leavimg Tallahassee, Fl on ****** with her credit card* she booked a room for overnight as non-smoking. My wife and grand-daughter (who was accompanying her are severely allergic to tobacco smoke, astmatic* she also had our young grandson with her. My wife was very upset because they had to place personal belongings outside the room as I and the young man walked back to the front desk to find out what was going on. She was further upset because while I walked back to lobby she said strange men had came near room *** where they (she & kids) stood "outside", the men came up smoking near them. I found them in the ftont parking lot. She (Dot Daugherty-Davis) called the ftont lobby and asked "Debra" for the Manager's contact number. Debra replied "whats the problem?" When my wife tried to tell her that having her pay for a *smoking* room was wrong, and putting another guest there after I had checked in was wrong* Debra's response to her was "some of our guests smoke Ma'am"...so my wife again asked for management's information, and informed Debra that she was making a complaint, Debra said "do it!" then hung phone up on my wife. We were not given management's name, nor contact imformation. She (Dot) suspect's that Debra may have behaved this way either due to our race by giving a room already booked and checked in by an older African American man, to a younger white man* or the fact that she is simply nasty to certain customers. My wife and I are retirees, she is also a disabled veteran who had just undergone medical procedure this morning "after" we drove to Gainesville ftom.Tallahassee, Fl.
