I've been taking my cars to the Midas at **** E Rand Rd. for the last ** yrs since we moved to Arlington Hts. before that I took them to the Midas at County Farm and Army Trail for ** yrs. Recently while my wife and I were on vacation the car stopped running and I had it towed to Midas. They looked at it and found out that my son had accidentally filled it with diesel. They told me this was a big problem and was going to cost me ***.**. I called back a week later when I got back in town and they told me it was still not running. The manager I talked to there Tom said that they were still trying to figure out what to do to get the car running. It took approximately * weeks for them to get me the price of *,*** to replace the fuel injectors, fuel filter and fuel pump. In the mean time my wife called another shop that she had used in the past. They said this happens more than people think, they have done dozens of these. All you have to do is drain the fuel tank and the car will run fine. They normally charge *** for this repair. I did some research on the internet and found that the great majority of people that had committed the same error did not have to do anymore than flush the tank so I had the car towed to the other shop and with the tow and gas I paid ***.** and my car is working again. I called the Midas on Rand back and was told the manager I had been talking to had quit and I talked to Ray who said he was the general manager for this shop as well as * others in the area. He basically bad mouthed the shop I had the car towed to and told me that they did **** worth of work and he didn't feel like he owed me any money back. He said it was like a house where somebody did most of the work on the roof and somebody else came in an finished the repair. You had to pay the first guy for the work they did. The difference is that I paid two companies for the same repair. Your company charged me twice as much as the other company, didn't fix the problem and then wanted to charge me *,*** more for additional work that my car didn't need. I agree that your shop did "some" work on the car, and should be paid something but considering the circumstances I think most companies would want to take care of their long term customers. I own five cars right now. It just doesn't seem like not accepting any responsibility for a poor job in this case was a good business decision.
