The problem I'm having is entirely unprompted and not due to me dropping it, spilling anything on it, or having viruses. My Surface Book * that I got a month ago was left open halfway, went to sleep, I came back to it about ** minutes later and the screen stayed black no matter what I did. The keyboard lit up when I touched it, but the screen wouldn't respond. I tried the fix of pressing the power button and the volume up button, but it only shut off the keyboard, and no matter what I did that wouldn't turn on either. I was on the last day of my warrantee at Best Buy so thankfully I was able to get a new model, but all my information, years worth of writing, pictures, and art, is stuck on that computer. The employees at Best Buy were unable to retrieve my information because the computer wouldn't turn on, but I want to know if there's any way that if I sent the computer into Microsoft that the information could be retrieved and I would be able to get a new computer with it. Since I already traded the computer in, I would have to return it and exchange again, so I would only have the broken computer to send in, and by the time it would arrive to Microsoft, the warrantee would be void. So if my information could be salvaged and I could get a new computer with that, that would solve all my problems.
