I recently took my 90-year-old mom to renew her license plate tab ($[redacted]) and driver's license ($55). During the eye test, the supervisor's behavior was appalling. She displayed rude gestures and made my mom uncomfortable. Additionally, she abruptly handed us forms that required my mom's eye doctor's signature. This incident occurred at the Hudsonville branch. Despite spending over $[redacted], the service was subpar compared to other establishments. I will need to return to complete the paperwork, and I intend to address this unprofessional conduct with the supervisor.

I recently received two possession charges in Virginia while I was a resident there, but I now reside in Michigan and hold a valid driver's license. In Virginia, my driving privilege was suspended for a year as part of my sentence, but I was under the impression that my Michigan license would not be affected. However, my Michigan probation officer informed me that my license here might be suspended and that I cannot obtain a restricted license due to being a transfer case from Virginia. I have two concerns: 1. Will my Michigan license be suspended as indicated? 2. Can I truly not obtain a restricted license in Michigan, considering I have been a resident here for six months and see no grounds for my license to be suspended?

Regarding the driver's license renewal for Cheryl A. Smrkovski, License Number S562 [redacted] [redacted] [redacted], DOB 4-2-44, residing at [redacted] Tartan Lane, Holt MI [redacted] and winter address at [redacted] Alissa Drive, Zephyrhills, FL [redacted]. Cheryl received a renewal notice instructing her to renew at an S.O.S. office, likely for a vision test. As she is in Florida until June 1st, obtaining an optometrist's statement regarding her improved vision post-cataract surgery may suffice. If the S.O.S. accepts a vision statement on Meridian Eye Care letterhead, Cheryl can provide it alongside her renewal application. She can be reached at [redacted], while alternatives can contact me at [redacted]. Attempts to contact the S.O.S. office have been met with long wait times, so email or a callback is preferred. Thank you.

I recently turned 21 on October 1 and renewed my license early at the Michigan Secretary of State office due to travel plans. I am currently overseas in Australia for three months. I was issued a temporary paper license that expired on 10/05/19, and my permanent license has not arrived at my home address in Michigan. Despite my father's attempts to fix this issue, they are unable to assist without my presence. I was informed that the permanent license would be issued after my 21st birthday due to the horizontal orientation for individuals turning 21. As I am now in Australia without a valid license, I require urgent help to address the status of my license and have it expedited. I urgently need to contact the appropriate department to resolve this matter promptly, considering the time zone difference and international call.

Hello, I am facing an issue with the title of my car. I relocated from California to Michigan and seem to have misplaced the title during the move. When I initially registered the car in Michigan back in [redacted], I did not have the title. I possess a lien indicating the full payment of the car. The predicament lies in the fact that the original title bears both my and my ex-husband's names. As my ex-husband cannot come to Michigan to sign the necessary papers, and I cannot return to California for the same reason, I am seeking a solution for obtaining a new title for the car. Is there a document available that he can sign to authorize the issuance of a new title? Perhaps an online form exists for this purpose. I am frustrated by the situation and believe there must be a way to overcome this obstacle. I am sure others have encountered similar challenges. Any guidance on resolving this matter promptly and effortlessly would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your assistance in finding a resolution.

I renewed my driver's license before my birthday in November, but it did not arrive before I left for Virginia for four months. Upon calling my local SOS office, I was informed that it will not be forwarded to my winter address. It would have been considerate to have been informed earlier about this issue. I am concerned if I will have to pay for another one upon returning home and if there will be a penalty for renewing it late. I had paid for a new and improved super ID and driver's license, and I am eager to have it in hand. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I had a written driving test appointment on June 11, [redacted], at 11 am in Michigan. I forgot my proof of residency and was told to come back later with the proof letter by the staff member. They mentioned that they would check with a higher authority to let me proceed with the test. After taking the test, I returned within half an hour as instructed, but the staff member was not available. Another employee asked me to schedule a new appointment despite me explaining that I had been asked to return later. Currently, there are no available appointments for the next 2 months, and I am in a difficult situation as I don't have proof of taking the test. I am seeking assistance with this issue. Thank you.

Concerns have been raised regarding potential voter registration application fraud, as there is currently no requirement for applicants to provide valid proof of citizenship, making the process susceptible to dishonesty. The lack of verification by the State further exacerbates the issue and jeopardizes the integrity of the election process. Regarding Michigan's voter list of 7.7 million people, questions have been raised about the accuracy of the data, considering factors such as deceased individuals, incorrect addresses, out-of-state residents, duplicate entries, incarcerated persons, and the homeless population, which could open the door to fraudulent activities. To address these issues, suggestions include requiring applicants to submit citizenship documentation in person at a Secretary of State office, with verification by both Republican and Democratic staff members. Additionally, advocating for voters to present both ID and voter registration cards could help ensure the legitimacy of the voting process. Maintaining an updated and accurate voter list is crucial for the credibility of elections, and actions such as mailing applications and ballots without ensuring the accuracy of the list could compromise the integrity of the process. To prevent fraud, a more rigorous approach is recommended to safeguard the election process.

I applied for Michigan unemployment over a month ago and have an open non-monetary issue. Every phone number I try from the Michigan government is overwhelmed with calls and just disconnects without providing any solutions on how I can schedule an appointment. I require answers beyond what the website offers and urge for a swift resolution to this non-monetary issue. I am eager to contact someone who can guide me on resolving the problem or confirm that I am progressing correctly. The fear of missing out on benefits is distressing, and I feel stranded without adequate assistance. I am seeking a way to reach out to someone who can provide the necessary help in this matter.

I have an upcoming appointment at the Benton Harbor Branch Office of the Secretary of State to renew my driver’s license. I am concerned about the potential wait time and what items I can bring into the office. Recently, I noticed a long line of around 30 people waiting outside, with one lady sharing that she had been waiting for 40 minutes past her scheduled time. Given my age of 80 years, standing for an extended period is challenging. Considering this, I am wondering if I can bring a folding lawn chair to sit on while waiting. Since I will be dropped off and picked up for the appointment, waiting inside the car is not an option, and there are no designated seating areas outside. Can someone provide clarity on whether I can bring the chair into the building with me?

I have an appointment at the Benton Harbor Branch Office of the Secretary of State on July 14, [redacted] to renew my driver’s license at 11:45 a.m. I am concerned about the potential wait time and what items I can bring inside. Recently, I saw quite a few people waiting outside the office, even those with appointments, enduring long waits in the heat. I am 80 years old and standing for long periods is challenging for me. I am wondering if I am allowed to bring a folding chair, such as a lawn chair, with me into the office as there are no seating areas provided outside and I will be dropped off for my appointment without a car to wait in.

I recently had a [redacted] Cadillac XT-5 that I returned in December [redacted] for leasing a [redacted] Cadillac XT-5. The handicap license plate from the old car was moved to the new one, but it's now in poor condition and expired. I haven't received a renewal. Since the Michigan Secretary of State's offices have been closed, I can't make an appointment online to replace it. This is crucial as my wife has appointments with nine different specialists that I take her to. I need guidance on obtaining a new license plate. Thank you. Best, David D. Hill

My husband and I are having trouble logging into the system. I forgot my password, and my husband used my email address for his account as I did for mine. The system won't provide password assistance with my email because there are two IDs linked to the same email. If my husband could access his account to update his email, then we could both reset our passwords. Unfortunately, we're unable to get tech support, and we can't reach a customer service representative for help.

I will be undergoing surgery this week and will require a temporary handicap parking permit. I have filled out an application but can only obtain the placard through an appointment or by mailing in the application. Unfortunately, the earliest appointment available is in November due to a significant backlog in service requests, as confirmed on your website and phone line. This delay means I am unable to receive the placard promptly. I believe there should be an expedited service for individuals in need of handicap services like myself. While my disability period is expected to be temporary, I am concerned that others with more permanent needs may also face similar challenges in obtaining assistance promptly.

I recently switched to a new insurance company due to a change in the law in July. After making my first payment, I was informed that my policy was modified because of a [redacted] claim. They advised me to dispute this with the Secretary of State. I have submitted the dispute twice through the LexisNexis Consumer Center but have not received any paperwork yet, despite calling them as well. I am concerned because I only have 60 days to contest this claim. I would like to understand why this dispute is affecting my insurance coverage. Additionally, I have noticed that my last name is incorrect on the documents.

I recently relocated from Ohio to Michigan and need to register my vehicle and obtain a Michigan driver's license. Unfortunately, I've encountered difficulties as these tasks cannot be completed online, and the earliest appointment available is in December [redacted]. Despite attempting to contact the SOS by phone, all I encountered was automated messages followed by disconnections. According to the law, vehicle registration should be done promptly, which is impossible with the delayed appointment. Additionally, my September birthday makes the December slot impractical. This situation also affects my voter registration. I am seeking assistance to speak with a live representative from the SOS to ensure I comply with Michigan regulations and to secure an earlier appointment or advocate for online registration services for out-of-state vehicles and licenses.

I am attempting to update my address online but cannot locate the option to do so. Despite not possessing an enhanced driver's license, the 'Modify' option is not visible to me. I have made attempts in both Firefox and Chrome browsers but have had no luck changing my address. Contacting an agent via phone has also proven fruitless. Regrettably, I am ineligible to schedule an appointment at a branch office. The current situation has me concerned about potentially missing out on voting due to the Michigan SOS system issues. I am seeking guidance on updating my address given the constraints imposed by COVID-19.

I submitted two checks, one for license renewal and one for plate transfer for my recently acquired [redacted] Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT with VIN# 1C4RJFDJ6FC687342. During my visit to the Clinton Township branch in Michigan on August 5th, I was directed to the Special Services Branch as they were unable to process the transaction. Approximately a month ago, I forwarded all relevant paperwork, including documents for the plate transfer, new title issuance, and the addition of my credit union, Christian Financial Credit Union, as the lienholder. Additionally, I provided my contact information in a letter. Despite my efforts, I have not received any communication from the Michigan Secretary of State's office. I would appreciate it if the process could be expedited, and I kindly request a prompt update regarding the timeline for resolving this matter as I am currently driving with expired license and plates. My reference number from the Clinton Twp Branch is L[redacted]. Thank you, Dennis W L.
