Item ID: m************Email: *****@***.com**Hello, I recently purchased an item from the Mercari app on **********. I spoke with the seller about the items size and seller was very nice and great to work with. Items condition was posted as "Like new", items description included that it was "never worn". Upon receiving the item it was clear the item had came from a smoking household. As I am aware from reading guidelines regarding returns, items that do not fit or have an odor are not eligible for return. I'm sure item could be washed to get smell out if desired. However, my issue with the item was it was very dingy (maybe because it was from a smoking household but that's an assumption) and not "new condition" or "never worn" as described. I read thoroughly through the return requirements and did not rate sellers as started it would complete the sale and my item would not be eligible for return, also still have not rated seller. I took photos according to Mercari's return policy and even took photos including the item next to multiple other white clothing items to show just how dingy the item was. I then when to request a return and without filling anything out regarding my return Mercari automatically credited my account with credit to use on the app*website and told me I could keep the item. I read thoroughly through the information regarding returns and it does state that some "lower priced" items may be eligible for refund or Mercari credit. However, never stating what amount is "lower priced". I never was given the opportunity to submit photos or return request for a refund on my original form of payment. I see many items being sold for $*, $*, etc. I paid $** for the item, and was more than happy to return to seller for a refund. In conclusion, I'm not understanding why I was automatically given Mercari credit (that has a one month expiration to add) without ever being able to submit my return request and is there any way to get a refund and not this credit as I am not exactly wanting to buy more through this app after this experience. **Thank you,*Madison.
