I wanted to follow-up with you to discuss meeting with the Menards Leadership Team. Unfortunately the email reply listed above was inadequate and causes me to wonder if Menards is taking my situation to heart and believes that it is of a serious nature.**I want to be very transparent and alert you to the fact that in the last few days I have been contacted by local, regional and yesterday a national media outlet that is interested in the possibility of developing stories regarding my Menards experience. At this point I believe that this situation can be resolved by additional dialogue between us, but it will not go away if we can not sit down and discuss viable solutions together. It has been * days since your reply to me, and my request is that I be contacted within ** hours to set up a meeting with your leadership team. After ** hours it may be necessary to pursue additional avenues of resolution with regards to my Menards experience.**I can be contacted at: (***) ***-****.**I look forward to hearing from your leadership team, and reaching an amicable resolution to this issue.**Best Regards,**Below you will find my original Social Media Post:**Unfortunately I am unable to locate a direct email to Menards Corporate Offices. I wanted to share an encountered at your Menards store in Wichita, Ks. on North Webb Rd. This was posted on social media yesterday, and I want to ensure that your Executive Leadership Team has the opportunity to review and respond, if they deem it necessary. Below is the original post on Facebook:**YOU BE THE JUDGE. This happened to me at about *pm today ********* at Menards on Webb Rd. I went to Menards to purchase some lights that I needed, wearing the proper PPE. After talking with a very helpful sales associate, I decided to see if the lights that I wanted were available online, as she suggested. I headed back to the door where I entered (because it was much closer to my car). I saw a sign that clearly stated "This Is Not A Exit". No problem, I will go to the other end of the store and exit. As I turned to take my walk out, a gentleman passed me, so I stopped to watch. Much to my surprise he walked right past the Security Guard, and out the store. Surely an oversight, so I sat back and watched * other gentlemen walk right out the entrance marked "this is not an exit", directly past the Security Guard! As I start to exit that way (like * others had done) a *th gentleman walked past me but he couldn't get out because the automatic doors would not activate (until someone came in) The security guard guided the gentleman to a manual door and held the door open for him to go out! Seems reasonable to me that you can leave out the entrance as * gentlemen had just done! As I walked toward the doors, the security guard stopped me immediately and said "you can't exit here, you have walk to the other end of the store." I pointed to the guy (who the Security Guard had just let out) still in view and I ask "why did you let him leave out the entrance doors and the * others"? The Security Guard stated, "that's a different situation". He then told me that it was the "Menards Policy" that you can only leave "out the entrance" if you were returning something. Granted * men did leave the return desk, but the other * were in the store shopping...just like me, and the store sign did not make any distinction as to who could leave out the doors! I then ask to see the "Menards Policy" stating who could leave "out the entrance"? The security guard then stated I will call the store manager and let her explain. Great plan. The store manager "Trang (pictured) came and listened to my story and then she stated that it was a "Menards Policy". I ask her to please show me the policy that indicates "who" can exit the entrance" doors. I followed Trang across the store because she "guaranteed" me Menards has a policy indicating "who" could exit the entrance doors. She went to the computer and began looking at the computer...NO POLICY there! She then pulled out a spiral notebook and stated "l know that it is in here". Still "NO POLICY"! She then told me "someone must have removed the policy" - Wow! I then decided to take her picture as she went back to the computer. She then stated "I know that I'm beautiful, take more pictures" I then asked very calmly, "is that the appropriate demeanor for a Menards Store Manager". She then stated: "All YOU PEOPLE do is come in here to create problems". ("YOU PEOPLE" - WOW) Trang then told me that I could "run out" of the store if I didn't like her answer. I explained to Manager Trang that I don't run from situations that need to be addressed. I then calmly asked Trang to radio the General Manager, which she did. The GM "Rick" came to the front of the store and he was very professional. I explained my displeasure and he explained to me that there "was a store policy but there have been *** changes since March **th." GM Rick then explained how Menards was attempting to create a flow through the store to address "social distancing". Makes since, but it doesn't explain the actions of the Security Guard or "Trang" (and the YOU PEOPLE) statement", from the store "Manager"! After speaking with GM Rick and fully understanding that this was an "arbitrary and selective store policy that did not apply to everyone equally", I then told GM Rick, "Thank you for your time and he assured me that he would visit with the store Security Guard and make sure that "no one leaves out the entrance". I then "exited out the proper exit doors, as requested" because that is the Policy for "YOU PEOPLE". I wasn't upset then, I'm not upset now. These are simply daily occurrences that happen if you are "LWB". (Living While Black). Believe me when I say that I was totally professional and never raised my voice, it wasn't about confrontation, I just wanted an honest explanation. They have cameras at the entrance and exit, it can be reviewed. Will I shop at Menards again....absolutely because I don't believe that what I experienced is the Menards culture or "Policy". You may have noticed that I did not use race as the foundation (although Trang is pictured), but in today's climate in our society, should color be the determining factor between right and wrong? Privilege and no privilege? Policy or no Policy? Even if you don't look like me? What is clear as I type....I made it home alive to tell my story, while some of "YOU PEOPLE" never get to tell their story. You be the judge....
