Buy a Shower from plumbing department ... My name is Joe Walton, I live in Rochester MN and I normally would never spend time writing a complaint but I am extremely frustrated about my experience buying a shower from both the north and the south stores in Rochester. I am going to tell you the whole story and it gets a bit long. **I am installing a shower in my basement, I went to the south menards. I bought the sterling kohler ** x ** inch shower base. I only bought the base at the time because I wanted to make sure that it was going to work. a couple days later after I determine that it will work I went back to buy the shower walls and the door. I was informed that the walls and door were not in stock but the North store had them. This is my first frustration, why would you not carry the whole set? If you have the shower base shouldn't you have the walls and door also to go with it? So no big deal I'll go to the North store and buy them. The North store is ** minute drive. I am informed at the North store that they do not have the shower walls either. Okay so that is a bit frustrating but still its not that big of a deal I understand it's a simple mistake. I am informed that they have the back wall and the door though and the sidewalls will be in on **** and I can pay for them now and come pick them up when they arrive. I buy the door and back wall and pre pay for the sidewalls and go home and wait for ****. on **** I call the south store and ask if they have the sidewalls in and they said they do. I informed them that I pre paid for them at the North store and was wondering if I could just pick them up from the south store because it is so close to me. The employee told me no. This is my *nd frustration, the south store is who misinformed me of the north store having the shower walls and now I have to waste my time and gas going out there to pick up the shower walls because I prepaid at that location? I was a bit annoyed with that situation. So I go to the North store to pick up the shower walls. This is my *rd frustration. They tell me that their system shows that the walls have already been picked up. Okay so now what do I do, I'm already out of my way at the north store and don't want to be because the south store told me I could't pick up from there. Now they are telling me that I have already picked up the walls and I need to go to the front desk so they can verify the situation. Whatever so I go to the front desk and let them sort through what happened and they determine that it was a mistake with the cashier at the time of prepaying for the walls and I can drive back to pick up area in they yard and the walls will be there. I knew they wouldn't be there though which is my *th frustration because I then waited another ** minutes in the yard for them to retrieve the shower walls and bring them back there. Wouldn't it have been easier for me to just go to plumbing and put the box on a cart and walk out the normal exit? So whatever I'm not gonna worry anymore, I've got what I need and it's water under the bridge, just a bunch of stars aligned for a bad experience but it's done and I'm moving on. I go home and get working on installing the shower and get to the last part of the install which is installing the shower door, I have all the hardware installed for the framing and all I need to do is hang the door. this is my *th and final frustration. It is the wrong door, they sold me the ** inch door and I need the ** inch. Now what do I do I already have all the hardware for the door installed on the shower. So I call and and verify that they did sell me the wrong door by giving them sku numbers of the shower and I am informed that I can just bring the door in and they will swap it out with the right size, all the hardware is the same its just the door size is different. This is where I am at. Tomorrow I will be going to swap this door out for the right one but I am extremely annoyed with the time that I have wasted and the lack of disregard for my time on this whole deal. I just want to install a shower and the only thing that is stopping me from doing it is menards! Like I said I normally wouldn't take the time to do this but I feel that someone needs to know how much **** I've had to deal with to get this job done. It is absolutely unacceptable to me.
