Dear friends at Meetup,**My name is Edward Crim and I run a budding nonprofit here in Saint Louis, Missouri, dedicated to building community through photography. https:**www.stlpa.com I manage three Meetup groups as a part of this effort* the Saint Louis Photography Club, Studio Creative and The Tangible Image. Last year your organization made some changes to the way Meetup group membership is handled, and it had a big effect on us. **We used to have three options when charging dues: *allow members to join a group and remain members without paying dues, *require dues payment after a trial period or be dropped from the group, and *allow members to join and remain members without paying dues, but require them to pay dues when signing up for an event. **The last of these was the one we chose, as it allowed us to reach and encourage a much broader base while still collecting enough dues to offer free events. At the time your organization dropped this option, about *** of the Photography Club's **** members were paying their dues. Since April *, no one has paid dues. I also have an issue with the roughly *% total fees charged by you and WePay, as Paypal is our preferred option, but not currently available on two of our meetups. We really want to be able to offer free events, but, as I’m sure you know, the money has to come from somewhere, and it is logical to charge the members of the group in order to maintain it.**Please don’t ignore me (yes, I do know that I am just a voice crying in flyover country), please talk with me about this. I think you would do better by reinstating the option your organization deleted, and, say, charging a *% fee on top of Paypal than going with WePay. You did tell us that you chose WePay because they offer recurring automatic billing, but I don’t want that. My members hated it, and I had some contested billings that wound up costing me twice the amount that was collected!**So, a real person responding, maybe? At least pretending to take me seriously? Some action even?
