Hello! I recently had an accident where my vehicle, registered under number 1DN993, was deemed a total loss. The insurance company picked up the vehicle along with the license plates. However, it has come to my attention that I am still being charged for insurance on the vehicle even though I no longer have it. Geico requires proof that the plates have been returned for charges to cease. I attempted to cancel the registration online, but it indicated that it was not active. I am uncertain how to proceed in providing Geico with the necessary proof. Is there a document or email you can supply me with to confirm the cancellation of these plates? Thank you!

Hello, In early [redacted], my registration got revoked, and in April [redacted], my car was repossessed. When I got the letter from the RMV, I thought that with a revoked registration and repossession, I wouldn't owe excise taxes. Due to my income being falsified, I ended up in a loan I couldn't manage, which was settled between Santander and the MA Attorney Office. I'm looking to get my [redacted] and [redacted] excise taxes abated. Please get in touch with any advice. Thank you!

My 21-year-old daughter, a college student, needs her learner's permit. She started college before I moved to Boston, and she has been working in different parts of the country. We lack proof of residency. She was born in Boston and has it on her birth certificate. She had an internship here last summer, but her school address is in New Jersey on the paperwork. She prefers to apply for the permit in Massachusetts as she will be learning to drive here in the upcoming months. Can someone provide guidance on what we should do in this situation?

I submitted my license renewal application on 11/19/[redacted] at the South Yarmouth Service Center. I provided all the necessary identification and documents, including a valid alien registration card. However, the license couldn't be processed as the RMV is verifying my proof of lawful presence documentation with the USCIS. The case number is [redacted]108TP, which can be checked on the USCIS website. I checked the website a month ago and saw that a response was sent to the RMV, but I haven't received any mail notification. I called customer service, and after explaining the situation, I was told no response had been received. After informing them about the USCIS response, they said someone is working on my case and took my phone number promising to update me. It has been three weeks, and I am worried my license will expire before this is resolved. I've been a legal permanent resident with a valid Green Card, licensed in Massachusetts & Florida since [redacted]. I hope this issue can be resolved promptly.

Each visit I've had at the MA RMV has been incredibly frustrating. Boston being a large city, you'd expect better service. The lack of weekend hours is inconveniencing residents who work during the week. Without extended hours, online options are vital for people to manage their RMV needs efficiently. The lack of transparency on the website about license suspensions from other states adds to the difficulty. Contacting customer support involves long wait times. It's unacceptable that clearing a suspension from another state does not automatically remove it in MA. Requiring physical appearances at the RMV adds unnecessary steps. The process to obtain a license is excessively time-consuming, requiring multiple days off work. The inefficiencies of the MA RMV reflect poorly on the state. Streamlining services and improving communication are necessary for better customer experience. The frustration shared by many needs to be addressed promptly to restore confidence in the agency.

My driver's license is set to expire on 2-16-[redacted], and I'm looking to upgrade to a Real ID. Following the RMV's instructions in a recent letter, I started filling out the form online. However, I hit a roadblock when the form asked for a registration number on my birth certificate. My birth certificate does not include this number. I reached out to a representative from the vital statistics department in New Haven, my birthplace, who confirmed that since this number is not on the birth certificate, it is deemed non-existent.

I work for a bank, and we arranged a lease for a customer to get a vehicle. The lease states that sales tax is to be paid monthly at a rate of 6.25% of the monthly payment. We provided the customer with a limited power of attorney to register the vehicle on our behalf. However, the DMV informed the customer that all sales tax (sale price X 6.25%) must be paid in full upfront to register the vehicle, stating that monthly payments were not allowed for sales tax. I would appreciate it if someone could confirm if this information is correct and provide the specific code or statute that outlines this regulation. Thank you.

I believe I may have been scammed while attempting to renew my vehicle registration. Initially, I thought I was interacting with the RMV, but there was an issue right before completion, and I was unable to generate the temporary registration to place in my car. Subsequently, I attempted to renew it once more on the official RMV website, but it indicated that I did not have an active registration, preventing me from progressing. My registration number is [redacted], and I require the transaction documentation since the registration has expired.

I recently received a 'notice of debt' from a collector regarding toll charges on the Tappan Zee Bridge for $[redacted].25. However, the letters were sent to my previous address at [redacted] Montague City Road, Greenfield, MA [redacted], even though I had updated my address to [redacted] Fairview St W, Greenfield, MA [redacted] with the Greenfield MA registry well before the debts were incurred in April and June of [redacted]. I need to know the date when I updated my address with the registry in order to appeal this. My name is Martha Nightingale, and the license plate for the car is 5DA176.

I am from Johnson Insurance Agency and I am currently assisting a mutual customer who bought a car at Empire Hyundai in Fall River. The customer bought the car using her name but needs to return the previous plate registered under her husband's name, a PAN plate. The dealer mentioned gifting the plates, claiming it's allowed as they are a dealer, but I clarified that it was not permissible. The dealer proposed temporarily providing a dealer plate, but the customer informed me she is driving with her husband's plate. Despite the dealer not having the title yet, my customer is using the vehicle with an invalid plate. I've tried contacting the dealer again, but they are unresponsive. I just need to confirm that gifting a PAN plate is not permissible.

I received a ticket for equipment failure on Christmas night in Pittsfield, MA. After fixing the issue and mailing the ticket to Citation in Boston within the 20-day timeframe specified, it was returned to me. I then contacted the RMV online and submitted a new hearing request because they stated in their response that the letter from Citation was dated December 5, [redacted], which was incorrect. Despite trying to resolve this through email, I didn't receive a response from them. Due to a severe finger injury from a trunk latch incident, I was unable to work for most of January and February. Recently, I was unexpectedly arrested for driving with a suspended license related to this ticket, even though I was not aware of the suspension. To resolve the situation, I had to pay the ticket to lift the suspension, as well as cover impound and other charges. It's frustrating as I have evidence that contradicts their claim of December 5, [redacted], and now I am dealing with the financial consequences of this mistake.

The first time I paid the Haverhill RMV to reinstate my suspended license on 11/4/19, something was not done correctly, and my license remained suspended without my knowledge. It wasn't until three months later, after an accident, that I learned about the suspension. I then went to the Wilmington MA RMV to pay for reinstatement a second time. I need a copy of my DMV records to prove to the court that my license was not suspended at the time of the 1/31/20 accident. Despite receiving three tickets within a year, I completed the required certification course on 1/15/20. The RMV should have shown an active license status from 11/4/19 as the suspension was resolved then, and I completed the course for the tickets on 1/15/20. I am seeking documentation from the RMV to confirm payment for reinstatement done twice, although it should have been a one-time payment during Nov. [redacted].

I need assistance urgently! I worked tirelessly to regain my license after spending a significant amount of money due to dismissed charges. I am required to report to a hearings officer every three months to provide proof of ongoing therapy and random screenings. As a single mother to five children, two of whom have underlying conditions like cerebral palsy, my license is crucial for my family. I have already filed an appeal, maintaining my innocence and the urgency of my situation. I have made numerous calls this week, waiting for hours without success. While I understand the challenges of the current times, I need guidance on the status of my upcoming hearing date extension. Please reach out to me promptly at [redacted]. Thank you for your help. - Julie Carlson, License Number: S[redacted]2, Massachusetts.

I have an updated registration and my [redacted] Buick Enclave passed inspection. However, the license plate sticker still shows 19, even though the registration is current. I could not find the new sticker and was issued a red windshield sticker that prohibits driving the vehicle. I've been informed that I can pass the inspection if I return with the correct plate sticker. The last time I renewed the registration online, I printed it but did not receive a plate sticker. I now have two registrations but no plate sticker. I need assistance with this issue. Thank you.

I have made multiple attempts to answer RMV's notice about the potential suspension of my registration but have faced difficulties. Despite trying during the listed office hours, I have been met with closed offices and prolonged wait times exceeding an hour. To demonstrate my efforts, I wrote a letter on April 7th along with a copy of my USAA car insurance policy from 3/1/20. As of 4/27/20, I have not received any response via phone, email, or mail, which surprises me as USAA claims to have submitted the necessary MA insurance notification form to the RMV twice. I seek further guidance on resolving this issue beyond what I have already attempted. I would appreciate receiving contact information, such as a phone number, fax number, or email address, for USAA to reach the RMV directly to ensure the required documents are received. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. -R. J.

My license plate sticker is due for renewal in May [redacted], yet I have not received it. I contacted Liberty Mutual, but they were unable to assist me. I need the sticker to pass the car inspection. How should I proceed? Today's date is May 2, [redacted]. It is currently May 4, and I am struggling to speak with a live agent for assistance. Getting in touch with an agent seems to be the only solution, but I am having difficulty finding the right category to connect with one. I urgently require help from an agent.

I have not yet received my certificate of registration to proceed with the vehicle inspection and decal payment. I called the RMV this morning at 9:38 am, but the issue remains unresolved. Without the certificate, I am unable to renew the registration, get an inspection, or obtain a new decal from Liberty Mutual. I am worried about this situation and unsure how to proceed. I have contacted AAA for assistance since my insurance company was unable to help. Typically, I receive the registration document a month before needing the new decal, which is due in May [redacted].

Upon arriving at the Springfield RMV office for a registration transfer of my motorhome, intending to apply for a title for the new vehicle, I was informed that the process could not be completed as the motorhome was considered non-essential. This came as a surprise as there was no prior mention of such restrictions. I strongly believe that the motorhome is an essential vehicle, especially given that my family includes a police officer, a nurse, and a plumber - all frontline workers at risk of exposure to the virus. In case they need to self-isolate, having the motorhome registered would be crucial for them. I kindly request the Springfield office to reconsider this decision. Thank you for your understanding. I moved to Florida two years ago while my house was being built. During that time, my motor home's registration expired in [redacted] while it was in storage. Now that I am settling into my new home, I am unable to register the motor home in Florida because the old Massachusetts registration has expired. The Florida DMV has requested a letter from the Massachusetts DMV on official letterhead, confirming the current titled owner's name and vehicle details. Despite visiting the Massachusetts Registry in Chicopee on 3/9/[redacted], I only received a printout of a 926F form with the required information, but it was not on official letterhead. I attempted to email them with no success. Could you please send me the necessary letter by mail to Stephen G. Goulet at [redacted] Foal Creek Dr., Parrish, FL 34[redacted]? Thank you, Stephen Goulet.

I recently passed my road test in Massachusetts but had to move to New York before receiving my driver's license due to a college transfer. Currently, I only have a written pass on my learner's permit. I requested the RMV to send my license to my New York address, but I had to return to China because of COVID-19. Now in China, I urgently need my driver's license but cannot access my learner's permit. I am unable to retrieve it from New York. If possible, could you send a new driver's license to my address in Shanghai? I am willing to pay the delivery fee. My address in Shanghai: Room [redacted], Apartment 8, [redacted] Dong'an Road, Shanghai, Shanghai, [redacted]. Thank you, Y.W.
