John Piller III***** West Avenue K-***Lancaster, Ca ******To:*Lyft HQ**** Berry Street,* San Francisco, CA ********To Whom it may Concern*** My name is John Piller and I am a Proud LYFT in the Antelope Valley Area of Southern California and I wanted to Bring to your Attention some Concerns about driving issues in this area.* This is a Very Large Area to work in. *Antelope Valley - Wikipedia* The Antelope Valley comprises the western tip of the Mojave Desert, opening up to the Victor Valley and the Great Basin to the east. Lying north of the San Gabriel Mountains and southeast of the Tehachapis, this desert ecosystem spans approximately *,*** square miles (*,*** km*). * **% of the LYFT Drivers that work in this area also Live in this area and in most cases, Like mine, LYFT is Currently our Main Source of Income. * As you can see in the Above Description, This area is Unique compared to most of Southern California due to the Distances that are Required to drive in order to provide LYFT Services to our Customers. In a lot of cases LYFT Drivers are Required to drive as long as *** Minutes and*or *** Miles to pickup Passenger Requests. * Just like LYFT, The Drivers Goals are to Provide High Quality, Professional and Friendly Service to All of our Passengers. However, a lot of LYFT Drivers will not accept calls over ** Minutes or ** Miles away because it is not Cost effective to Drive ** - ** miles or more to pick up a Passenger for a $*.** ride which in conclusion can equate to ** - *** miles Round Trip. Again for $*.**, Which doesn't even come close to covering the cost of Fuel, not to mention the LYFT Drivers Time and wear and tear on Our Vehicles and pulling us away from local calls. Driving Speed Limits in this area on most of the Major Streets are ** - **mph. And in some cases **mph. SR-** North of Avenue I into Kern County and the Mojave Area is **mph. And the same on the Return Drive.* I, like other LYFT Drivers and LYFT Passengers Strive to retain High Acceptance and Star Ratings and Pride Ourselves on doing so.* The Second Concern is that LYFT Drivers in this area Very Rarely see "Prime Time" . I personally have only seen it Twice in the ** months that I have been driving for LYFT. However, I have had as many as * rides in Que and "Prime Time" has Never been added. I have been told by numerous LYFT Support Staff that if the demand for rides is "Higher" than the amount of Available LYFT Drivers, Your System Automatically will activate "Prime Time" Rates until the Surge is gone. * My Suggestion is to Implement a Surcharge to the Customer that is paid Directly to the LYFT Driver if Drive Times exceed ** minutes or ** miles to pick up a Passenger. This Incentive would not only make it worthwhile for a LYFT Driver in This area to accept an " Out of Area " Request but Also provide LYFT Customers who are out of the area better Service. * I don't know how much of a "Surcharge" Price" would be reasonable but I think if would be safe to say that based on our "Rate Card", Anything over ** Minutes should be .** Cents per minute until Arrival and Anything over ** Miles should be .**** cents per mile until Arrival Conclusively. Then leave it up to the LYFT Customer to decide whether or not to accept the Additional Charges. * This would not only give LYFT Customers more Coverage, It would also prevent the majority of them from using UBER or a Taxi Service in lieu of LYFT and pay More money for a TAXI Service then what they would pay for LYFT. * Lastly, This would suggest that is Only Apply to LYFT Drivers that Live and Work in the Antelope Valley or Similar Areas as to prevent an Influx of Drivers from out of the area.* Thank You in Advance for your Consideration.*John Piller III.************************************************
