To who it may concern*I have been a member of your somerdale nj club since the club opened. *Through the years I have always felt the managers did a pretty good job of taking care of the members and have been happy going there to work out.*On my visit of **-**-**** It was a cold windy day and decided to wear my good north face parka coat.*It was expensive and the warmest coat I ever owned*As I normally do I roll my coat up and store it behind a unused rack near the mats where I stretch out to begin my work out .*After my work out I returned to my coat and it was gone.*So I asked at the front desk if anyone had returned the coat to the front ?*The reply was no so I looke around further and realized it was gone someone had stolen it.*Now I realize I have some liability and fault for not securing it in a locker but through all of the years I have worked out at this location I hav always stored my coat there and have never felt that it was un safe.*So the manager I believe his name is Dan took a incident report. The young lady at the desk recommended he file a police report he said nothing, but we continued on with the incident report.*I aske if he had cameras to review he said no only going in to the locker room and out.*I told him of a suspicious individual who was fully dressed hanging in the locker room just looking around at everyone which I thought was not normal but at the time dint think he possibly was a thief then I also saw him out on the work out floor doing the same thing just looking around the gym fully clothed and with a back pack on him.*So I asked if he would check it out and maybe see if he had him on tape and find out if he was a member.*Dan said he would consider it out and keep an eye out for my coat*So I finally returned on this Tuesday the * th and asked Dan if he had found out any thing? He replied no. I asked did you look at the tape he said he really doesn't have any tape*So I replied you told me you have tape going in and out of locker room! He said well yea but *And I was like aren't you concerned that there is a thief in this gym and he was like yea I'm concerned but I can't prove he took your coat. And my feeling is just take the time and check the tape and at least see if the guy in question is even a member.*Then Dan says well yea I checked the tape and he is a member but still can't prove he took your coat*At that point I did lose my patience because Dan basically lied first told me he dint ck the tape then all of the sudden he did check the tape!*Basically Dan doesn't really care if the members are safe from a thief . I then asked for compensation for the coat ,I dint want money but asked at least in good faith give me some free months to make up for some of the cost of the coat. He said no!*I said then I am cancelling my membership! He said fine. So I went did my work out and returned to cancel at which point Dan was very happy to cancel me *Dint say let me see what I can do dint try any thing was just happy to be rid of me.*Which I told him that the most appealing part of all of this was his un caring attitude not only of my stolen coat , the fact that there is a thief in the gym but that he really dint care that a member who was there from the start wanted to cancel and he could care less.*I was a business owner and have managed through my years and I have to tell you that Dan is no better then a minimum waged front desk person who basically dose not care about your business!*I really do not want to go to another gym and would hope that something can be worked out so if someone with a voice of reason can contact me I would appreciate it. *Sincerely *James McLaughlin **** ***-****
