my first email sent ********:*"my **-year-old mother, Donna Berberick @ *** Mission Creek Drive, Edwardsville, KS, was extended a subscription rate of $***.** for ** weeks. However, just received her statement and it shows ** weeks @ $***.**. Also with her renewal, I notice it states something about "auto renewal" ?? We NEVER agreed to auto renewal, NEVER EVER, so take that completely off her statement!**I've dealt with this newspaper way too many times regarding my mother's account. Perhaps you thought she would be deceased by now and it would become a non-issue! If so, I say SHAME ON YOU! **So I definitely want an explanation on how a **-week subscription @ $***.** all of a sudden increases to $***.**. -- for a newspaper that has reduced itself to publishing just a few articles and filling up their space with all kinds of ads and other frivolous information. The Star used to be a reputable publication and now it has just become a big joke. All of our friends and family are simply shocked that we still subscribe and are very quick to tell us how they cancelled all of their subscriptions years ago because of the lack of content and insane cost!**And if this wasn't my mother's only contact with the outside world, I would have cancelled this subscription years ago! However, she sits by her window each morning around *am and patiently waits for the paper to arrive. **This is simply OUTRAGEOUS and we will not sit silently by while the Kansas City Star RIPS OFF **-YEAR-OLDS!!!!!!!**The courtesy of a response is the least you can do! This 'newspaper' has turned into nothing but an 'adspaper' -- very little content but full of advertising and non-news-related stuff. I have informed my mother that I cannot continue to battle this company much longer and her contact with the outside world may soon come to a halt -- very sad indeed, but she is just one little customer and the Star is a large business who could care less about their loyal, bill-paying (for more than ** years!) customers.**Don't bother with the form response of "we'll credit her account" -- of course you will. Subscribers cannot be held accountable for the incompetence of the Star employees. I SIMPLY STATED THAT I WOULD HAVE CANCELLED YEARS AGO, IF NOT FOR THIS PAPER BEING MY MOTHER'S ONLY CONTACT WITH THE OUTSIDE WORLD!!!!!**CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE * TIMES: FIRST TALKED TO "CASSIDY" -- ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING ! SHE SIMPLY RESTATED WHAT THE STAR RESPONDED -- THAT SOMEONE REQUESTED CANCELLATION AND A REFUND HAD BEEN ISSUED! I ADVISED HER THAT ON ******** I SUBMITTED A CHECK FOR **-WEEK *-DAY DELIVERY @ ***.** -- SHE STATED THERE WAS NO RECORD OF THIS...AFTER A VERY HEATED CONVERSATION AND NO RESOLUTION, SHE SAID SHE WOULD HAVE FINANCE DEPARTMENT CALL ME -- I STATED VERY CLEARLY * TIMES: "DO NOT CALL MY MOTHER -- I REPEAT -- DO NOT CALL MY MOTHER" AND SHE STATED THAT SHE WOULD HAVE THEM CALL ME* HOWEVER, AFTER I HUNG UP WITH "CASSIDY", MY MOTHER RECEIVED * PHONE CALLS FROM THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT!! DO YOU SEE THE ABSOLUTE INSANITY OF THIS WHOLE ORDEAL???@!!!!! **AFTER MY MOTHER'S *ND CALL FROM FINANCE DEPARTMENT I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE ONCE AGAIN -- THIS TIME I GOT "JANET"* I ASKED TO SPEAK TO "CASSIDY" AND SHE HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT! WANTED ME TO REHASH THE WHOLE CONVERSATION AND I REFUSED! I RESTATED THAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO GET A CALL FROM THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT, BUT INSTEAD, MY MOTHER RECEIVED * CALLS* AND I AM STILL WAITING FOR MY CALL.**TODAY IS ******* AND I JUST SPOKE TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON "JULIA" (*:**PM)* SAID I NEED FINANCE DEPARTMENT TO CALL ME -- NOT MY MOTHER -- AND IF I DON'T HEAR FROM THEM WITHIN THE NEXT ** HOURS, I WILL DEFINITELY EXPLORE MY OPTIONS FOR A LEGAL RESOLUTION TO THIS -- IN MY OPINION, THE KANSAS CITY STAR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE INTENTIONAL INFLICTION OF EMOTIONAL DISTRESS UPON MY MOTHER -- AND I WILL PROVIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC AND WRITTEN EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT MY CLAIM.**DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT IT MUST BE LIKE TO SIT AT YOUR WINDOW EVERY MORNING AT *AM WAITING ON A STUPID SO-CALLED PAPER AND IT NEVER ARRIVES -- THEN YOU FIND OUT THAT THE STAR CANCELLED IT?????!!!!!!!
