Subject: Problem with review downvoting abuse*Since late last year, somebody or a group of people has been downvoting my reviews twenty or so times, all the times a ridiculously big number and all in a ridiculously short period of time. Most of them for non-recent projects, we're talking like Buster Keaton films and ****s animation for example. All the reviews I've written this week have been down-voted, but the worst cases were last week on Saturday where ** of my reviews got between * out * and * out of ** non-useful votes in a short space of time and *** of my most recent reviews shortly got downvoted (* months worth of reviews). This is distressing me a lot and has made me very nervous about doing any more reviewing, which was one of my crutches during all the tough times I've gone through throughout my time on IMDb. I have done nothing to warrant this what I feel stalking and negative obsession, although I expect down-votes for some of my reviews I am very upset about it happening in this way, which is not normal and is an issue. If possible I would like the user(s) investigated, the abuse completely stopped, ways of trying to avoid it happening again and the non-useful votes deleted. This has upset me so much that I have considered making this year my last year contributing to IMDb, this has been a problem for some other reviewers too and a couple are not contributing any more as a result. Thank you. Bethany (TheLittleSongbird, registered email *****@***.com, but the provided email underneath is easier to access at the moment).
This has been really frustrating because I am a prolific user who has been with IMDb for over ** years. I put a lot of care and thought into my reviews and have a decent enough following apparently, and it was only from late last year it started happening. It has also been frustrating because I have checked the individual pages for each film, episode, cartoon, production etc reviewed and I am the only one to have this happen to them and have always been one of the, and in most cases even the, most recent reviewers for the title. It's also not knowing what I've done wrong, the reiteration that bothered some has been addressed and although I have been popular in useful votes also recently they are clearly from someone who likes how I write for individual episodes and finds them useful, I play no part in it. This issue has made me feel very un-appreciated and that I no longer feel welcome.
The accounts in question investigated, the down-votes possibly removed and finding some way of decreasing the chance of it happening again. If that can't happen I at least want the person*people responsible to leave me alone.
I have never violated terms and conditions, have always been careful with that and would never intentionally do so. I would never do anything manipulative or to take advantage. I have been a long-term user, an apparently quite popular one (though an acquired taste in other cases too) and have been very committed to IMDb, with it being a significant part of my life over the years. To face the possibility of not contributing anymore from **** onwards because of this really devastating and I really hope it doesn't happen, but I just cannot deal with this on-going problem anymore and have been rather discouraged by the lack of help from IMDb I've had in regard to this.
Reporting it to GetSatisfaction, where I was pretty much fobbed off and was met with a couple of rather condescending replies from other contributors.
