I deactivated my Instagram account about a month and a half ago, but kept my Facebook account linked until about two weeks ago, when I accidentally linked the same Facebook account to another Instagram account I run for a student organization at my university. Ever since this, I have tried to reactivate my personal Instagram account but in order to do so, I must use my Google Authenticator for *-step. The problem is, ever since I unlinked my account, Instagram has refused to accept ANY of my Google Authenticator codes, even though I NEVER removed it. Now, I have none of my backup codes because I was under the impression that something like this wouldn't occur. I was very wrong. Is there some way to contact Instagram support about this? I am still able to get a login link from Instagram's backend by claiming to have forgotten my password, but I do, in fact, still remember it. I just can't get past the blasted *-step screen anymore!
My Facebook account still appears to be linked to both accounts, even though I assumed it may have unlinked the first by linking the second. When clicking the "Continue as *Name*", it prompts me to log in as my personal account still! But when clicking Log In, nothing ever happens, and the app hangs at the login screen.
Instagram can easily fix this in the same way Google has! Allow a person with access to the email address to disable Two-factor! This isn't a backup codes issue, because I would have saved them if I planned on removing the Google Auth app, which was never done! I expected to be able to log back in because I have, in fact, deactivated before and reactivated with no issues.
