I'm just stunned at Ikea's SHOCKINGLY POOR customer service. *I placed an order yesterday online for in-store pickup. The website said that the items should be ready for pickup *:**pm (yesterday) but my order confirmation email stated I would I receive another email when my items were actually ready for pickup. I never received that email. The order confirmation stated, "for questions about your order, call ***-***-****." When I called that number, I got a recording that said for customer service inquiries, call ***-***-**** and hung up. *That number gave me a long menu, which did not contain a simple customer service option. In the end, another recording said they were experiencing higher than normal call volume and they couldn't take my call at this time. I tried calling back several times over the next few hours with the same result. One time I did get a human who put me on hold and then dropped my call. *I went online looking for another customer service phone number. I found a number that contained an option for Sales. I selected that just hoping to reach a live person, which I did. That person told me I should just go down to the store because sometimes they forget to send the confirmation emails. I told her that it was a ** minute drive for me and the reason I placed the online order in the first place was because I drove to the store last week after checking stock on the Ikea app only to find that the items were not actually in stock. She finally called the store who told her that my times were ready for pickup since yesterday.*I don't write these kind of complaints often, no matter how bad the service....I just don't have the time. But this experience was a new low -- something I might expect from some mom and pop operation, but certainly not a major corporation. Frankly, I think I am insulting mom and pop shops by comparing their service to Ikea's -- I'm sure they would at least answer the phone. *Finally, I just want to say that I love Ikea's products. I've been buying them for over ** years and will probably continue to shop there, but this experience was simply shocking and certainly changed my perception of the company greatly.
