Last week was our first time to make purchases at Memphis, TN Ikea. First they couldn't pull up the order we made when we were in cabinet and beding area when we got to the checkout. It took about ** minutes of waiting and another ** minutes for the workers to figure out that an item wasn't in stock and that was the reason for the barcode not to work at checkout. Then we were using the new credit card which was suppose to give a $** credit card discount for first time users. When we asked the cashier she said, it looks like it gave you the credit even though she said she didn't see it on the receipt. Once we walked to the pick up line we realized it wasn't on the receipt, which took them a while to figure out how to credit us back the amount. Then well over an hour after trying to start the check out process, they had our items, which were * cabinets, pulled ($*,***.**). We wheeled the cart they gave us to the door and as soon as we started to exit the door, a couple of the shelve pieces for the cabinets fell since they didn't properly stack them. One of them had a crack so I immediately took it back to the counter which at that time the store was already closing. They told me I had to come back and return it another day, I then started to get upset and told them we have had several issues trying to get these items which took over an hour to get the items ordered from the barcode we were given in store and to get the $** credit from the credit card fixed. I told them that I live approximately ** minutes away and I couldn't see spending the time to drive there and back a second time for a cracked shelve. While I was explaining this to the worker, my husband who was at the door area waiting with the cart and our items, called me to tell me that out of curiosity he decided to look over the other shelves and two others, which were ones that didn't fall, were clearly cracked as well. They told me they would go and exchange the * then. **Today I went back to get some additional cabinets to finish up the project and I was hoping to have a smooth visit. When we got to the checkout, we tried to use the temporary credit card number we were given a week and a half ago since we have yet to receive our credit card in the mail (as it takes ** business days they reconfirmed in line today). They said we could use the temporary number so we could get the *% off. Well, it wouldn't work so they called for the manager. Once they got help to come, they tried again and realized the temporary credit card number is only good for * days from the issue date. They told us there was nothing we could do to get the *% while we were there today. They told us we would have to wait to get the credit card in the mail and then drive back to the store with the receipt so they can credit us back the *%, again, it is about ** minutes to get to the store and another ** minutes to get back home. I have never purchased a credit card at a store that they can't pull up online. Also, if this is the case, the least they could do was refund me the *% and we just use our personal credit card*debit card so we wouldn't have to drive back just to receive the credit. I am honestly disappointed in Ikea after our two visits. I appreciate you taking the time to read this and it just takes a little bit of customer service and trying to go a long way.
