Top Tip from another customer
If you are looking to apply for a payment arrangement be sure to pay attention to the payment extension dates and deadlines. If you are willing to wait on hold then you should call into the IRS and they will work with you one on one to set up a payment arrangement that fits your needs. You can call customer support at the IRS using 800-829-1040. Once you call press 1 for English then wait for the recording to end. Press 2 then 1 then 3 then 2. The recording will then ask for your social security number you can just press 0# it will ask again then press 0# and finally press 2 once it asks you a question. You will be told your wait time and a representative will pick up to help you.
The issue in GetHuman2222815's own words
I owed for **** tax year and originally requested a payment plan of to which I never received an answer. Therefore, I decided to pay the amount in full. Mind you I received a letter from the IRS last year much after the request for a payment plan saying sorry I could never reach an agent, thank you for the payment in full and lastly, I do not owe the IRS any further paynent.**Much to my dismay, months later in January **** the IRS is now taking $*** out of my account when the amount was paid in full in ****. I proceeded to draft a letter to the IRS and included a copy of the letter they sent me indicating I did not owe them any money, paid in full and again, in February they took another $***. Trying to call and contact them is a joke for you wait on hold for literally hours and no one responds. If you can help me with this is would be great or when,my ankle heals I will have to make a personal visit downtown. Thank you in advance.**Teresa Franklin**** Hancock Street*Delaware, Ohio ********* *** ****
I would like the IRS to correct their records and refund the $*** they subtracted from my account without either authorization or just cause because the tax owed was paid in full months ago and I have a letter from the IRS stating I owe nothing.
Yes, trying to contact the IRS by phone which is pointless!
